2013 Stylish Resolutions

At the 2nd half of last year, I began sharing my shopping budget*, how I stick to it (or don't), what I purchase, & how these items fit in to my existing wardrobe... but this year I am going big or going home.... A budget for the whole year!

Based on my average shopping allowance of $250/month, my year shopping budget is $3,000.... which admittedly sounds like an incredibly large amount of money to this cheap graduate student. So I am resolving to spend this money wisely, continue my journey to build a versatile closet based around my 50 wardrobe staples, & find quality items for less along the way!

What am I dreaming of adding to my closet in 2013?
These 10 fabulous items top my wish list:
{1.} structured bag, {2.} classy tuxedo jacket, {3.} day-to-night wool dress pants, {4.} timeless tortoise shell sunnies, {5.} a simple, but stunning day dress, {6.} moto-chic leather gloves, {7.} gorgeous silk scarf, {8.} flattering A-line skirt, {9.} silk PJs (pretty enough for out of the house), {10.} unique, statement necklace (I research frogs at school, so I definitely have my eye on this one)

The total dollar amount of these 10 items tops $2,300 so I will definitely be scouting equally fabulous items but for a fraction of the price! Being called a frugal fashionista is a compliment in my book!

  3. My monthly clothes budget is about the same (except that sometimes I have to share some of it with my husband, but not too much since he wears scrubs to work almost every day, ha). It feels crazy to think about the total amount, but I justify in that it fits our budget and we still save plenty - so why not allow myself to spend on things that make me feel good and help me create a great wardrobe (so yes, the key is spending wisely - getting better at that!). Your #1 and #5 are on my list for the year - and all are lovely picks!

  12. That J.Crew dress!! It's a beauty, and if you can afford it, I'd say GET IT! $250 a months is a crazy amount, haha. I go with about $50 (€40 euro's + a prepaid card :D) and that's to pay for all things I do. Hence why everything I wear is either Zara or H&M! ^.^

  15. I think those are fantastic pieces. Once you have some high quality pieces, the kind you'll have for EVER, you won't even be tempted to ever even step foot into forever 21 or waste your budget on the cheaper pieces. I can't wait to see what you buy!

  24. No way! I wanted to order the red version :) BUT, JCrew hates me and wouldn't accept my Credit Card. Turns out you can't enter a USA address (from a friend) and pay with a Belgian card. I may or may not have been upset all day, haha.
