picnic ready

I know I was just exalting the amazingness of stripes in my blog post yesterday, but can you really ever have enough!?!? This top is a new piece from The Mint Julep Boutique, and while I admittedly fell in love with the tie detail at the wrist like the basic lady that I am... when I put in on in person, it is the softest, most flattering striped shirt that I own (and I own enough to have put in my market research).

For some reason when I slipped this outfit on during a sunny, warm Denver Saturday a few weeks back, I felt like I should be headed to a picnic. This is just such a happy outfit & everything about it makes me smile. How can the simple act of tying a scarf on your purse change your outlook on the whole day!?

{Shop These Exact Pieces}

shirt: striped tee with tie details c/o The Mint Julep Boutique

skirt: J.Crew Factory (this style is several years old, but this style is very similar - easily styled up or down)

shoes: Saludos leather sandals (Obsessed with this pair - they sold out quickly last year)

purse: Vera Bradley Quilted mini-bag (Now on sale for over $100 off! I love the small size & on point details!)

**If you haven't checked out Vera Bradley lately, you are missing out. I could NOT be more in love with this watermelon mini-bag (just try to stare into this watermelon goodness & not fall in love too!)

sunglasses: Ray Ban aviators

scarf: vintage scarf (I usually find them on Etsy)

romper ruffles

shoes: leather Saludos sandals (very similar style - more linked below)

Having lived 29 years in the South (Arkansas & then Tennessee), I didn't know what to expect weather-wise when we moved to Colorado. The fact that there could be a place where humidity wasn't a thing was simply too much for me to wrap my feeble mind around.

Lucky, I just finished teaching weather to my 7th grade Scientists, so now I pretty much feel like an expert on the matter, but it hasn't changed my weather confusion on a day to day basis. For example, yesterday Tyler & I headed up before sunrise to ski at A Basin, & enjoyed crisp 30 degree temps in the mountains. We got back to Denver around 4 & it was 70 (SEVENTY!?!?) degrees... in March... and I saw snow today... my mind can't handle it.

But my Spring wardrobe that is itching to be worn sees nothing wrong with these big temperature swings - getting to wear my beloved Sorel boots & Saludos sandals in the span of one week... guess that is just something I will have to get used to!

If you too are itching to add to your Spring wardrobe - you totally have to check out the romper selection from Tobi. I absolutely love the ruffle detail on this one I'm wearing, but I can't stop drooling over this lace one, & this simple but classy one too!
