I keep finding new ways to justify adding another striped shirt to my closet, & yet another has found its way to me. I love the bell sleeves & gorgeous embroidered details on this one, & with the temps still fluctuating between Fall & Summer here in Denver, I loved pulling out the pink colors with this pretty Cuore & Pelle clutch.
Is it more Summer or Fall where you are? Denver just had their first snow this week, and then today it is back into the 70s... I just don't know how to dress for this!
I picked up this gingham shirtdress thinking it would be a great work dress & while I was certainly not wrong, I also love it as an after work look too! My favorite trick of adding a belt to change the look of a dress strikes again + my Summer-to-Fall transition accessories make this a perfect end-of-Summer look.
As far as being a work dress, I'm pretty sure that 3 other teachers at my school saw me in this dress & have already purchased it. Our historic school building is gorgeous, but not air conditioned, so we are all looking for pieces to wear in the crazy heat now, and well into Fall. The shape of this J.Crew Factory shirtdress is the right mix of being loose, but not baggy. I think it is so flattering & I can't wait to pick up some of their other shirtdress options.
clutch: Loving using pops of "Autumn" colors to help move my looks from Summer to end of Summer and even into Fall. Below are my favorite Fall clutches (the 2nd option is more affordable than it looks!):
shoes: open toe booties from years ago. They first made their blog appearance in this outfit photo (circa 2014), & year after year I am so super impressed with how well they transition from Summer to Fall. Shop my favorite current similar styles below:
scarf: J.Crew Factory (it has drawings on it of Hawaii & I love the it reminds me of our vacation there. Scarf souvinirs are my favorite, this one from Venice started this habit for me & has been featured in 6 outfits the blog - see more here!) The Hawaii one is currently sold out, but they have this super cute Paris themed one!
sunglasses: Ray Ban aviators (the green + gold color combo is my jam!)
The following is a love story between a girl & her new razor. While this post is in no way sponsored by Harry's Razors... Harry if you are listening, holler at your girl!
The other day I ran out of razors & didn't 1.) want to drive to the store to get more or 2.) pay $10+ for a single freaking shave... so I did what every woman who shares a bathroom with a man would do... I stole a razor from my husband. AND OH MY GOODNESS HOW HAVE THEY BEEN HIDING THIS FROM US!?!?!
I have always shelled out for the expensive "Goddess inspired" razors because hey, I'm a GODDESS & I deserve goddess inspired razors gosh darn it! I honestly never even thought about it - that's what the going price is for a shave, who am I to rock the boat of goddesses?!
And of course, I didn't admit to my husband that I had used one of his Harry's razors, & just went on my merry, hair-free way. But then I got caught.
We were riding in the car, & from the driver's seat, Tyler reaches over to put his hand on my knee. But this time my knee was different - instead of being a confusing combo of covered in scratches + covered in stubble, he remarked that my knee was as smooth as a cue ball! A FREAKING CUE BALL - that is seriously goals, right!? All of my other razors had been telling me that I was a GODDESS, but leaving my skin with less than goddess results. Sure, I like to hurry with my shave job & this usually results in missed spots + several bleeding wounds, but Harry's gets me & the super sharp razors GET. THE. JOB. DONE.
I was so caught up in my husband's compliment that I came clean about my razor double cross. Turns out Tyler has been getting Harry's razors every month for CHEAP + had an extra handle, so now I'm set up with my own rig + monthly subscription of blades... again for super CHEAP!
After using the same razors for years, it did take a couple of shaves to get used to the feel + shape of the Harry's Razors, so here are two things to be aware of if you are switching from overpriced "women's" razors, to these unisex models. 1. They don't have much of a moisturizing strip, so using some sort of shaving cream is needed (I never used any with my GODDESS razors). 2. The blade is a little wider than I was used to + the blades are super sharp, so be careful in any sensitive areas!
P.S. Just looked into it more & you don't even have to have a subscription to order! This 3 blade set is only $15 (love the orange handle!) + upgrade to the metal handle set for only $25.

I understand that when most people think of teachers, they are jealous our of "3 months off", & while some of my time between now & when school starts back in August will be spent reading novels by my pool, I am also already busy planning, preparing, & crafting for next school year.
I will be taking on a new role next year, transitioning from teaching 7th grade Science for the last 3 years, to a 6th grade Engineering position. I am already training on my new Engineering curriculum (it is so cool!!), & planning out all my Units/Tests/Projects using my Erin Condren Life Planner.
If you haven't ever tried Erin Condren planners, let me educate you! I have talked previously about my love for these thoughtful, attractive and super functional planner on the blog (full post here), and joked with my fellow teachers that we all need "Teachers Who Condren" bumper stickers to proclaim our love officially. Why are these planners the best? From the durable, and customizable plastic cover to the very well thought out pages that allow me to intentionally plan for my work & personal lives, this is the most functional planner I have ever used, & reasonable sized!

Post coming soon about how I plan for my Teacher Life - can't wait to start filling these pages up come August! I got my planner for the school year (August - June), but you can pick what months you want in your planner, starting now, or for the new year to come.
As of this moment I am 100% on cruise control until Spring Break. After this Friday I am celebrating my twin nieces 5th birthday, headed to visit my best friend in Houston & family in Arkansas. While my mind is firmly in Spring mode, I'm also crossing ALL of my extremities that we get a snow day soon - they keep telling me that Colorado weather is unpredictable!
Sorry I haven't been as plugged in to blogging/social media recently, I am busy looking for a new teaching gig for next year, and really throwing myself in the search so that I can find a great fit at a school where I could see myself staying for the next 3 - 5 years! I already have 3 job offers plus several interviews on the way, but please keep me in mind, I'm hoping to find a placement by the end of Spring Break!
{Shop These Pieces}
top: J.Crew Factory floral blouse (from last season, love this one for Spring!)
I purchased this J.Crew Factory skirt a few months ago & really liked how I styled it for the blog back in February (post here), but then I saw a Kate Spade shop girl wearing a similar pleated skirt with flat motorcycle boots & she just looked so gosh darn COOL that I knew I had to recreate what she had going on! This is my best attempt - while I usually trend more preppy in my style, I like this extra bit of edge added to the sweet pink skirt!
Looking for an extra does of blush in your life (one half of the dynamic duo that Pantone named as the colors of the year), be sure to check out my fellow Bloggers Who Budget to see how they are styling their budget friendly blush pieces this month!
I have a yellow pleated midi skirt that is similar to this skirt, & I have found myself re-creating some of the outfits I originally styled with the yellow skirt including this look & these outfits too! When you find what works… buy it in every color…? That is a saying, right?!
What pieces have you been wearing & re-wearing already this Spring?
If you talk to a teacher, they will tell you that the two worst months are October & February. Hard to understand if you aren't in the profession, but for some reason the kids are just extra rowdy around these times, & the stretch between where you stand & the next school break feels like FORRREVVVERRRRRRRRR!
To combat the February blues, I plan on pulling out my brightest clothes & faking an ear to ear smile all the way until Spring Break! Oh and LOTS. OF. COFFEE.
I just got this neon sweater as a little Christmas surprise from my parents & it makes me endlessly happy - if you can believe it, it is even more electric in person! When I spotted these gunmetal pieces from the Spring 2016 Kendra Scott collection, they instantly asked me to be paired with my new little slice of neon - although, now I'm dying to try them with some creamy whites too! My go to jewelry metal is gold, but I think Kendra Scott has finally gotten me officially out of my jewelry rut comfort zone
I have been having so much fun showing off the new Kendra Scott collection over the last week. Did you miss a post? Catch up below:
