Goodwill

You know those people who are always so well dressed, but when you ask them where they got their knockout piece, they tell you it is vintage/thrifted/super old... SO annoying, right? Well I want to be one of those people!

I love the idea of buying less NEW things, & instead finding things that will be new to me! Not only would it be cheaper, but better for the plant too! I waste so much by always rushing out to purchase items brand new. I'm sure other people feel that way too!

I think the hardest part about thrifting is hunting down & finding a specific item & the vast amount of time it takes to find success. I know there are lots of apps out there for this now - from clothes, to furniture, to every day items - but I still haven't perfected the art! Or is it better to find a regular routine to go in person to local shops... but what neighborhood is the best? How do you narrow down the options!?!

Are you a thrifter? What are your secrets? I want to get better for my wallet & the Earth!

stripes, I can't quit you!

I keep finding new ways to justify adding another striped shirt to my closet, & yet another has found its way to me. I love the bell sleeves & gorgeous embroidered details on this one, & with the temps still fluctuating between Fall & Summer here in Denver, I loved pulling out the pink colors with this pretty Cuore & Pelle clutch.

Is it more Summer or Fall where you are? Denver just had their first snow this week, and then today it is back into the 70s... I just don't know how to dress for this!

shirt: J.Crew Factory embroidered striped top - still stocked in most sizes & only $30!

jeans: Nordstrom distressed jeans (sold out, linked similar above - all under $75)
I just purchased this pair, same cut but a darker wash!

I like big bells...

Ok, I caved on the "statement" sleeve trend, & I have to admit that these sleeves make everything more fun! I was a little worried about the effectiveness of my hands while wearing this top (kind of like how I feel about using my arms with those off-the-shoulder-tops...), but the open slit makes the sleeves move out of your way for full hand use - SCORE! Have you ever put on dangly earrings and wanted to move your head all day... that is my exact craving with my arms in this top! I'll just be over here waving my arms in the air... like I just don't care... Have you adopted the statement sleeve trend for yourself yet?

Also - my jean shorts, sunglasses & sandals are all from Nordstrom & all staples in my Summer wardrobe. Having grown up in Arkansas, I didn't step foot in my first Nordstrom until several years after I moved to Tennessee in my mid-20s, & at first I was overwhelmed with the over abundance of choices, but over time have learned my own strategies to find everything I need & am a total Nordstrom-convert!

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up (are you already sick of hearing about it - SORRY), & I wanted to share a tip for those of you who do want to shop for next season's pieces at killer prices.

Get first dibs on the sale by applying for a Nordstrom debit or credit card! If you are approved before July 9th, you will receive a $20 Nordstrom Note toward your first purchase during the sale! Plus, as a cardholder, you will receive Early Access to shop the best arrivals at their Anniversary Sale discounted prices.

If the card isn't for you, you can join Nordstrom Rewards (what I do), without applying for the credit card & you will still receive a $10 Nordstrom Note to spend on the Anniversary Sale!

I will be putting together a list of items in my closet that are available at the Anniversary Sale shortly, but would love to know if there are any items on your wish list that you would like for me to keep an eye out for - holler at your girl :)

shirt: bell sleeve top c/o Chicwish

shorts: Levi's 501 jean shorts (I like to order my jean shorts at least 1 size up to get that "boyfriend" look; this style is also available in a black wash & with a longer, rolled hem)

sandals: Jack Rogers whipstitched flip flop (If you are indecisive about color: platinum is so versatile!)

sunglasses: Ray Ban aviators (green & gold)

punchy poncho

Ok folks, we have picked a new city & set a moving date! We are relocating to DENVER & our last day in Nashville will be June 4th! With less than 3 weeks to go until blast off (!!!) we are trying to cross as many items off our Nashville bucket list before we leave the amazing place we have called home for the past 7 years. On the first warm weekend at the end of April, we enjoyed one of our favorite snack spots in town - Las Paletas - although I will be very surprised if we don't end up back there in the next few weeks. Packing should always be rewarded with popsicles!!

top: poncho c/o francesca's

I wore this poncho as a swim cover up, but thought it was so cute it deserved its own spin out on the town! The pom-pom trim is just my all time favorite ever! In the market for a new poncho - francesca's has some super fun options here

I also can't help but share some of the other fun tops I spotted at francesca's recently! This peplum tank is so polished! Graphic tees are making a come-back & this one has a message I can totally get behind (& should probably remind myself of daily)! As you are well aware, off shoulder styles are mega hot for Summer, & this one is a little sassy & sweet (white lace gets me every time), while this hot pink number is so chic (both are under $35)!

I seriously love these jeans - perfectly distressed, and thick denim fabric that is super flattering! Call me crazy, but these distressed camo (yes, I said camo!) jeans are totally calling my name too!

sandals: classic Jack Rogers sandals (I can't recommend the platinum color enough!)

What is on your Summer bucket list??

relaxed? check!

Tyler & I snuck away to Asheville, North Carolina last weekend to try out their world class breweries, hang out in the mountains & pretend we were billionaires for a day while at the Biltmore Estate.

Tomorrow I'll be divulging packing tips + our favorite Asheville spots, but I just couldn't wait to share my traveling outfit any longer. I've said it many times (sorry not sorry!), but my favorite clothing silhouette is an oversized top + slim bottoms, so this "boyfriend fit" popover top is my dream item! It is the perfect balance of slouchy & feminine with the softest fabric! I have noticed the split back detail on several other pieces for Spring & it might just be my favorite subtle detail of all time.
Here&Now: oversized gingham top
Here&Now: easy weekend style
(fit: I ordered a size small, order your regular size for a comfy "boyfriend fit")

(the platinum color goes with everything & I swear it looks more gold tone online than in person!)

backpack: Michael Kors leather backpack
(I also love my canvas backpack - also in gray, I *might* have a gray bag problem - from Herschel)

Here&Now: Michael Kors backpack
Here&Now: Nashville Lashes by Shala
Here&Now: oversized gingham tunic, split back top

Bloggers Who Budget: White Out

July is flying by & if there is one thing I have learned about Nashville in my 5 years here, is that the Summer heat hasn't even started yet. I'm excited that this month's Bloggers Who Budget theme is all about staying fresh with Summer whites.
I am also linking up with my friend Julie Leah for her Style Files series - we are both styling up this fun Fresh Produce tee. Check out her post here

{ What I Wore to the Flea Market: tee ℅ Fresh Produce // J.Crew denim & Panama Hat (just ordered a second Panama hat as I have loved this one a little too hard over the last 2 Summers!)  // Jack Rogers sandals // Ray Ban sunglasses}

When I saw this Fresh Produce tee (a limited edition item celebrating 30 years of color) I knew it was made for a white out. The loose fit & fun graphic print is perfect for warm Summer afternoons. bonus: the Panama Hat hides the sweat.
