Best of: 4th of July Style + Sales

Good Afternoon! I thought I would pop in for a random Tuesday afternoon post to catalog some of the amazing sales going on right now, & provide some 4th of July outfit inspiration! Now through Labor Day can be some of the best prices of the year for many of your favorite retailers! Take advantage by stocking up on basics, or finally splurging for that investment piece you have been eyeing! Summer Citrus

Hello lovely Here & Now reader! I'm Elle, I'm a personal style blogger at Living In Color Style! By day, I'm a Kindergarten teacher to seventeen bright and shining faces, and by night I'm a grad student and self-proclaimed fashionista/blogger. I'm super excited to be writing this post on Jess's blog because that means she's either getting married soon or she's already married and on her honeymoon! What an exciting time! I'm super honored that she asked me to guest post on her blog because Jess is one of my favorite style gurus.
Living in Color Style is the blog for the every-day, working girl; therefore, I would describe my style as budget-friendly, classy and feminine. I love styling different prints, patterns, and textures, and of course I'm a sucker for the perfect color combination. 

I chose to rock this citrus dress by Bar III [one of my favorite budget friendly brands from Macy's in a very simple manner by pairing it with a contrasting turquoise colored statement necklace! I had so many comments on the contrast of these colors when I wore this outfit that it inspired me to buy two other tops in neon just to pair with this necklace. That's when you know you've got an amazing statement piece! Besides, one can't wear too much neon during the summer months!

Today I'm sharing a few of my favorite spring pieces. I always love a good classic color combo and really love the combo of blush and navy for spring. I actually lived in this Nic + Zoe top all winter and couldn't wait to pair it with some of my lighter colored pieces to remix it for spring and this perforated blush faux leather skirt was just the perfect piece.

sweet & short

Hello there Here&Now readers. I'm Becky and I blog over at The Pumpkin Spot. Jess and I join forces monthly in the #BloggersWhoBudget collaboration and I'm flattered to be here today on her beautiful space. As you know, she is getting married (cannot wait to see the photos!) and then taking off for her honeymoon. While she is gone, let's discuss the short suit.

One of my favorite looks right now is a drapey blazer over a pair of trousers or shorts. I wear scrubs to work, so I get really excited about work inspired pieces that transition to everyday wear. It's easy to do with the right products and looks pulled together and modern. Here's how I wore it.

When J.Crew came out with these Pleated Crepe Shorts (on sale), I knew I had to make them mine. I prefer a looser fit on a short and these fit amazing. There are so many colors to choose from and they are really well made. I paired my shorts with this Chelsea 28 Layered Chiffon Tank. If you haven't scoped out this new line at Nordstrom yet, you must put it on your to-do list. The line is feminine, modern, and the price point is great. My blazer is from Madewell and it works with everything. The lean tomboy fit is perfect for layering with shorts, jeans, and just about anything hanging in your closet. Throw on your favorite pair of heels, grab a sleek clutch, and you are done.

A Valentine's Tale

I saw the Winter's Tale trailer before Her on the big screen recently & it gave me chills! Literally, goose bumps on my arms. The sneak peek that I saw of the plot - a love story between Jessica Brown Findlay & Colin Farrell, with Russell Crowe being his badass self - got me so excited. These epic romances draw me in every time!
I can totally enjoy getting wrapped up in Hollywood's version of "love", but I'm happy to have my own love story, that couldn't be more different. Our love is a home cooked meal, a good board game battle, an afternoon walk with the pugs & reading in bed at night.

This Valentine's Day Ty & I will be shopping for each other's wedding bands as gifts, the ultimate token of our life-long love & devotion. And in my head I will be wearing this to the jewelry store:
heart stud earrings (every thing else listed below)



In this season of love, I have also been having so much fun pinning things that remind me of our love story!

Oh man, we are in that tricky time of year!
My mind is telling me that it should be Fall - back to school shopping, new notebooks, sharpened pencils, shorter days, pretty new clothes all hung up in the stores. 
But the weather is telling me otherwise!


Not only is it still 90 degrees outside, but all the Summer clothes are on sale too (temptation is strong!)
So how do I fight the end of Summer funk & sale vortex?

By adding items to my wardrobe that can be worn now while Summer is still here & later when the leaves begin to fall & the temps start to dip.

Boutique Onze sent over this fun knit day dress & I couldn't help but throw it on for a comfy weekend look & dream up 2 ways I will be wearing it in a little bit & much later.

Warm & Fuzzy

Well HEY there all you Here&Now readers! The name's Annie & if we've never met...you should know that:
 1) I have a mild obsession with nachos
 2) I love instagramming photos of Agatha, my French bulldog (see here)
 3) I have a little style blog myself over at The Other Side of Gray
You should also know that I am SO excited to be guest posting for the lovely Jessica while she is on vacay...enjoying the beautiful Oregon scenery, and also probably dancing her bootay off at a wedding. Aren't weddings the best?!

I figured since it was Thursday, I would bring a little weekly tradition of my own over here. On Thursdays, I usually like to talk about 5 things that make me "warm & fuzzy" (ha...minds out of the gutter please). In other words, here are some things that I'm just really loving right now:
1. Colorful sequin tops, like the one I'm wearing! I have a plethora of other sequined things...but they are mostly black, white or silver...so I'm loving this more fun & vibrant take on a sparkly tradition.

2. VACATIONS! Jessica is off enjoying hers right now, but the hubs & myself just got back from a 10 day trip to Ireland, and I have to say...it was ah.may.zing. Beautiful scenery, delicious food & drinks, and so unbelievably relaxing. Anyone else going anywhere fun for vacation?

3. Boot season! I'm sorry to those of you who don't appreciate me mentioning that Fall is only 1.5 months away, and I'm sweating my butt off in this humidity as I type...but despite that, boot season is my favorite season and I totally have my eye on these babies from Madewell. And probably a bunch of other things from their Fall collection too.

4. This recipe for caramel cinnamon buns...literally has me drooling.

5. Picnics (especially ones that involve wine). The hubs & I went to Gouveia Vineyards for a little dinner & some wine with friends a few weeks ago. We laid down a blanket, ate homemade sandwiches, drank some wine (obvi), and just enjoyed the beautiful twilight scenery. It was amazing and I highly recommend doing the same if you happen to live near a vineyard.

trippin' NYC

It is getting to the point where I can no longer contain the excitement I have for wedding dress shopping with my sister this coming weekend. The only time I have been to New York City was for less than 12 hours during an unfortunate layover.... 
so this 3 day trip is a dream come true!
I have read up on how to not dress like a tourist in NYC, but since I can't bring this fabulous Kate Spade capsule wardrobe with me, I have been plotting how to put together stylish outfits for a weekend, while only packing a small carryon. 

These key 14 pieces are either exactly or very close to what I have currently piled on my bed to come with.

Besides wedding dress shopping at J.Crew, Macy's & The White Gown, we hope to eat good food, try tasty cocktails, check out a museum or two, peruse the Brooklyn Flea & try our luck at last minute Broadway ticket scouting!

My carry-on packing tips:
- Wear your bulkiest items on the plane
- Pack two shoes max (if I can do it, you can too!)
- Keep the color palette neutral
- Maintain a constant pop of color
- Plan ahead for versatile layers

my mountain style

Good morning! I want to extend a BIG ol' sloppy kiss to all my readers - new & old. I have LOVED seeing so many new members join the Here&Now flock, & can't wait to check out all of your sites this weekend to make some new bloggy friends!

Ok, enough mush, I just wanted to tell you ladies that you know juuuust how to plaster a huge, goofy grin on this girl's face!

Over the New Year's holiday, I headed out to the woods of East Tennessee to ring in 2013 with 17 of my closest friends in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. 

I of course brought my sparkly kiss-me-at-midnight dress, but most of my suitcase was stuffed with comfy clothes 
(after all, beer pong doesn't have a dress code)
My mountain style? Comfy + Cute - think mixed plaids (stollen from my man friend), fur lined everything, cardigans that double as blankets, & of course my beloved Hunter wellies

The dark horse in my comfy style - the J.Crew Saturday pants. I purchased these at the end of November during one of J.Crew's never-ending sales, thinking they would be cheap PJs... but after putting on these lounge-chic knit pants for the first time I knew that these were much MORE than just PJ pants... they were my DREAM all-around weekend pants - movie pants, brunch pants, running errands in comfort pants. 

Unfortunately they are currently sold out, but the Old Navy ones in the collage above look very similar, & I also have my eye on another pair of legging-sweatpants (that's what I'm calling them) in a cute pattern { dotted option // strawberry print <-- sounds cray, but it's cute! }

And when J.Crew brings back these magical pants, I am definitely scooping up a second pair! (that good!)
This is why they are called the "Smoky" Mountains... baby clouds being born!
