Say hello to my Valentine's Day dress! Tyler & I decided that our Valentine's Day tradition would be getting all dolled up, then trying out a new dive bar for dinner. We unofficially started the tradition last year when we celebrated V-day at the (at the time) newly re-opened Dino's Bar on Nashville's East Side. This year's contenders for our celebrations are Foo Bar, The Crying Wolf, & The Basement East (I heard they just released a new menu that sounded yummy!). Nashvillians - what is your favorite dive bar? Everyone else - how do you celebrate V-day?

Tyler & I typically exchange small gifts & this year I'm drooling over this adorable donut trinket plate & have my fingers crossed that I get some of the 100 layer donuts from Five Daughters Bakery - as I type this, I'm starting to think I might have a donut problem! 

But seriously - I had my first Five Daughter's 100 layer donut just yesterday & it was the best donut I have ever had. Even my husband who is not really a sweets guy was raving about it, going on & on about how it has the perfect balance of fluffy + flavorful layers of goodness!

I cannot stop looking at this beauty of a dress - Free People certainly does lace right! I wanted to let the dress be the star of the show today, so I skipped the accessories, but next time, I think a big boho necklace (like this one!) would make quite the statement! Or throw on a more colorful wrap (like this one!) to give it a classic touch.

I know that sometimes the celebration of Valentine's Day can get all wrapped in loving someone else, showing your "beloved" with gifts, & sending your sentiments out into the universe. A Valentine's Tale

I saw the Winter's Tale trailer before Her on the big screen recently & it gave me chills! Literally, goose bumps on my arms. The sneak peek that I saw of the plot - a love story between Jessica Brown Findlay & Colin Farrell, with Russell Crowe being his badass self - got me so excited. These epic romances draw me in every time!

I can totally enjoy getting wrapped up in Hollywood's version of "love", but I'm happy to have my own love story, that couldn't be more different. Our love is a home cooked meal, a good board game battle, an afternoon walk with the pugs & reading in bed at night.

This Valentine's Day Ty & I will be shopping for each other's wedding bands as gifts, the ultimate token of our life-long love & devotion. And in my head I will be wearing this to the jewelry store:

Ok, I'll be the first to admit it, I take any excuse to purchase & send fabulous paper goods, but Valentine's Day certainly has to be my favorite cute-paper-good fueling holiday!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I am a sucker for holidays, and one of these years am going to get around to actually decorating for them (ha)! But seriously,  I would love to be one of those domestic goddesses that makes those cute felt heart banners from Pinterest and has her lady friends over for pink petit fours... baby steps.

This year Tyler and I are celebrating our love on Saturday to miss all the craziness (and enjoy cheaper wine!), and my girlfriends and I celebrated "Gal"-entine's Day last night by getting together for a good cry and Channing Tatum's rock hard abs in "The Vow"

But last weekend, Ty gave me a present by allowing me to drag him to Tango 101 class! Not really knowing what to wear to Tango, I picked out this fun wrap dress and my go-to black pumps to glide across the dance floor in. I figured I would wear heels during any occasion that would call for a Tango, so I my as well just start there. I paired the Tango dress with my boxy jacket that I recently found during my Winter closet purge... I know boxy jackets are on "trend" for Spring (I know cause I told you), but I think you commenters were right when you said that it maybe isn't the most flattering jacket shape...
