Clothing Budget: August 2012

Last month I opened up about the clothing budget that is right for my lifestyle, and where my monthly allotment for clothes went in July.

This month was slightly "special" in terms of spending, because it was my birthday (had some extra birthday cash burning a hole in my pocket), and I went on vacation. Two of my souvenirs from Oregon are a new dress and sweater from H&M... clothing is my way of remembering events (I can seriously remember the initial purchase and every way/time I have worn every item in my closet), and I am definitely going to wear both pieces with happy memories of Portland, OR.

My Happiness Project

I have talked about the little things that make me happy before, and if asked, I would certainly say that I am a happy person... but I have always wondered if there was secret for maximizing one's happiness that I was missing out on. After multiple recommendations, I picked up a copy of The Happiness Project... and I couldn't put it down, reading it cover to cover in a weekend.
The honest and easy way that author Gretchen Rubin talks about her own struggles with maximizing her happiness... resounded strongly with me.

I can honestly say that I am happier after reading this book. Some of the changes Rubin implements in her life, won't happen over night (stop nagging... yea, that's going to take some time), but having these nuggets of information at the front of my mind have made me more aware of cultivating my happiness daily

trends that make you go hmm... wedge sneakers

Have you taken the plunge and gotten yourself a pair of fashion sneakers?

I was so far away from accepting these wedge sneakers until I saw the über cool-girl Jules from Sincerely, Jules rocking hers with everything from girlie sundresses to trendy camo tops.

Whether you want to splurge for the designer piece or save on a discount pair from Target... there are many ways to shop this trend...
Are you going to be diving in?
