Last month I opened up about the clothing budget that is right for my lifestyle, and where my monthly allotment for clothes went in July.
This month was slightly "special" in terms of spending, because it was my birthday (had some extra birthday cash burning a hole in my pocket), and I went on vacation. Two of my souvenirs from Oregon are a new dress and sweater from H&M... clothing is my way of remembering events (I can seriously remember the initial purchase and every way/time I have worn every item in my closet), and I am definitely going to wear both pieces with happy memories of Portland, OR.
-- J.Crew striped tee $19.99 (on sale)
-- H&M burgundy sweater $19.95
-- H&M white lace dress $29.95
{ worn here }
-- Old
Navy striped dress $23.85 (had 10% off coupon)
{ worn here }
-- Old
Navy cargo vest (not pictured in collage) $26.94 (had 10% off coupon)
(had voucher for $40 and Free Shipping,
total purchase $15)
You can get a $40 voucher too, by signing up and then inviting friends!
-- Storets (faux) leather skirt
$65.00 (bought with birthday money)
{ worn here }
Total
= $250.68
I am excited to have picked up some great pieces for my closet, and saved even more by being sale savvy.
What pieces did you pick up for your closet in August?
Saving up for any big Fall purchases?
xx

ReplyDeleteAlso a money saver: H&M has circle leopard scarves for ~12-19 bucks (can't remember exactly). So it might save your readers some $$$!

Jessica, I love reading this feature! You certainly are a smart shopper, and seem to get stuff from all over (Storets? I've never even heard of that but that skirt is awesome!). I'm having an inner struggle with myself because I really don't have a lot of space for clothes (even my existing ones) in my house, also I'm trying not to accumulate more stuff for when Igraduate. Nonetheless, I will surely pick up a fall staple or two, I'm thinking leather ;)

I actually have the same problem - since I have been the same size since Jr. High I have been hoarding clothes like none other. I am trying to upgrade some of my existing clothes (i.e. donate the cheaper version of a white button down, and invest in a more flattering/long-lasting J.Crew one...), and be honest about what I am and am not wearing. Clothes that are sentimental have a hard time getting donated, but I am **starting** to get better

I've been following a budget since getting inspired by your last post about this! It's been alarming realising exactly how much I spend, but I do think I've been spending less because of it :)
