My second full day in Nice was beyond amazing. The mornings are a bit chilly there this time of year, so I dressed up my favorite blazer a bit, and went out for a cup of café (coffee) at a fancy bistro... trying my best to emulate the amazingly fashionable French women I had seen over the previous few days
{ What I Wore: J.Crew Factory Blazer // J.Crew Blythe Blouse // Genetic Denim skinny Jeans // Sole Society Heels // Cole Haan Purse (similar) } |
After stuffing myself on delicious pastries, I (switched into flats) then walked along the fresh market vendors, up to the top of an old fortified look-out, down into the port, and then back along the Old Town shops... definitely burning off maybe one bite of croissant!
See the rest of my adventures after the break...
The hilltop lookout affords breathtaking views of the Old Town and ocean... I took about 500 pictures up here, but this is one of my favorites!
The Port (le port) is beyond stunning - between the gorgeous architecture (reminds me of the French Quarter in New Orleans... imagine that), crystal blue waters, and HUGMONGO yachts my eyes almost couldn't take it all in.
How French is this gentleman!? Vespa, chic Italian shoes and riding gloves, racing polo, and he was gorgeous! Totally had to sneak a shot :)
The skinny roads running away from the port back right up to the pretty hill sides
After wearing myself out walking from one side of Old Nice to the other, I slipped on my swimsuit, grabbed a juicy murder mystery book and headed to the beach!
The water is an indescribable color blue... reminds me of my sister's favorite ice cream flavor from Baskin Robins growing up - Daiquiri Ice. The beaches are rocky... smooth rocks, but definitely not sand. The veterans bring mats to lie on... oh and they take off their tops too!
Watching the sun go down on the beach was certainly a highlight. The buzz of the city picks up, people come out to socialize, and the colors of everything are illuminated in gold.
Picking up my things from the beach, I threw on a jacket and wandered back through the streets I had walked over the previous 2 days. The night time atmosphere here is amazing - streets turn into outdoor bistros, couples walk arm in arm smiling (wine helps everyone look very lovey dovey), and street performers can be found on every corner.
I took close to 1000 pictures during my 2 full days in Nice, and this is but a slice of the wonderment that I experienced. I don't think I could have captured everything even if I was recording the whole time... the city has an amazing vibe that pulses around you, the colors, sights, smells, and people are all so unique and indescribable... somethings just have to be lived!

For the outfit photos, I used my tripod (snuck away to a empty alley). For some of the other photos of me in town, around the beach I relied on the kindness of strangers!

Nice is amazing - everything I wanted and more. I had actually been in 2009 and carved my name into a tree overlooking the ocean... I went back to find my name, and it had been carved over, but it was fun to remember the last time I was there nonetheless!
