neon scallops

{ What I Wore to a wedding: J.Crew Factory dress // zig-zag wrap ℅ The Poshmina // ShoeMint lace up heels (similar linked below) // Clare V. leopard clutch // J.Crew Factory "Clare" cardigan (if you are a cardigan person, you need this in every color!) // Kendra Scott cuff bracelet and tassel necklace }

That awkward moment when you ask your significant other for fashion feedback & they say the exact opposite of the idea you were seeking validation for… & then you have to either take their advice & act like you value their insight, or just go with what you wanted to do in the first place, & risk getting them to play along with your little fashion shows in the future… not like anything like that has happened to me before…

In fact, I took both the wrap & black cardigan to wear with this neon dress to our friends' wedding in San Francisco. I was leaning towards the colorful wrap, but when I asked Tyler, he was solidly team black cardigan. Which one would you have worn?
Everything is 60% off + an additional 20% at J.Crew Factory! Shop my favorite wedding guest dresses from there below:

go to

Do you have a piece in your closet that you grab over & over again for a certain occasion?

This dress is my wedding season dress. I love the long sleeves, it is pretty much impossible to wrinkle, & the colors/pattern are so fun! It was the perfect dress for the rehearsal dinner during our recent wedding festivities in San Francisco. The heels are very easy to walk in & the cross body bag is the perfect size for the essentials.

See how I've worn this dress 3 other times on the blog.

{What I Wore: H&M dress (several years old, loving this similar style + shop all of my current favorites at the bottom of the post // Michael Kors cross body bag // Shoe Mint lace up heels }
With longer sleeves, hemlines can go higher. Shop my favorite mini dresses with statement sleeves below:

tourist attraction

{ What I Wore: J.Crew top (old) // vintage leather midi skirt, Pura Vida Vintage // ShoeMint heels // ℅ Vanesa Rey iPhone case }

This outfit is from our BlogNashville outing to Pinewood Social at the end of January (I am SO behind on outfits & completely mixed up on my order anyways!)

Pinewood Social is THE new hot place in Nashville & after visiting, I can see why (I went two days in a row, no shame!) Pinewood Social is "a place to meet" - a place to eat, drink coffee, sip on yummy cocktails, freaking BOWL, & coming this Summer… a place to swim! They are putting in a pool with swim up bar. I'm never leaving!

My companions for Sunday brunch? 7 lovely blogging ladies that hail from Nashville & my iPhone to capture all the foodie deliciousness (delish bloody Mary's + chicken & biscuits!)

But don't you worry, my iPhone didn't have to go naked to brunch - she was wearing her new Vanesa Rey case. As someone said on Instagram, it's like a J.Crew necklace for your phone! This case/clutch combo is genius & not so bad on the eyes - bedazzles, places to put your cards & a chunky chain (I can't be the only one that loses my phone all. the. time. … sometimes I go to look for it, because that is second nature to me at this point, & I'M HOLDING IT IN MY HAND!)
The story behind this nose-crinkling giggle: I was texing & Zipporah asked me what it looked like when I talked on the phone & I had to laugh… I literally couldn't remember the last time I talked on my phone - texter for life (because you can't speak in emojis… only kind of kidding)

all dressed up

{ What I Wore: J.Crew button down, belt // necklace c/o Yuni Kelley // skirt c/o Gentle Fawn // ShoeMint "Elizabeth" heels }
All dressed up, and nowhere to go...
Since turning 26 last month I have been reflecting on how my personal style has evolved with age. All my life people have told me I look young. When older men see the engagement ring on my finger many tell me that I am too young to get married. I get carded for lotto tickets (must be 18 to purchase), & people never look twice when I try to milk college discounts. I actually have the image of my 18 year old self in my head (anyone else?), & wear clothes that I bought during my sophomore year of high school.

As a graduate student I am trapped in this time continuum where no one ever seems to age. There never really was a major leap from college to where I am now, & I still have the luxury of wearing ratty t-shirts & jeans everyday if I choose to do so.

Truth be told, I am that nutty person who dreams of having a job that would require me to don pencil skirts, silk blouses & pretty shoes. But without that current requirement I am stuck struggling to look put together & age appropriate all on my own volition.

I continue to buy the clothes that I think someone my age should own (a white button down, power heels, longer skirts), & yet have no where to wear them out to...
until then I will play dress up & dream, enjoying my youth while it is at hand (age is just an number, right!?)

Do you dress for your age, your body or just what you like?
What age do you see yourself as in your mind?
