Sunday Shopping: Hanes

When you get engaged your life changes (le duh) - you find yourself sitting at home, enjoying the gifted bottles of bubbly that keep showing up & popping bon-bons into your fiancĂ© mouth while staring longingly into those deep brown eyes. Ok that might be a slight exaggeration, but we have certainly become couch slugs over the past couple of months.

I have never been one to jump on a scale so I can't say how much my weight has changed exactly, but based on the barometer of how my body feels & the way my clothes fit, numbers in the weight department have definitely been increasing. Oh & I can no longer button my jeans. Yup, as many of you might have noticed, the jeans have been getting tighter & on the plane right back from Portland this past week they just stopped closing all together. Awesome. We are just going to call it the "engagement 15".

I have talked about how much I hate working out on this blog over/under 5 times (starting way back here at the very beginning)... & many more times than that if you have ever met me in person. I just don't like it. The sweating. Not knowing what any of those big scary machines at the gym do. Feeling like a slacker if I have to slow down. The soreness afterwards. And the big whammy - not knowing what to wear!
Ok, superficial much? And yes, it probably is, but when I am doing something already so far out of my element, I would at least like to know that I am wearing the right thing & feel half-way cute/put together.

Here is an example of my thoughts when the mere idea of working out crosses my mind (i.e. when Ty is forcing me to do something):

- How do I support the ladies? Can I wear a regular bra, will one of those "sports bra things" really feel good? How cute could that possibly be!?
- Are panty lines OK when working out? Or will everyone at the row of machines behind me be snickering?
- When does a bra become a top? Does it say that on a tag somewhere?
- How do I avoid getting a wedgie? Can I pick it if one forms? Where are the rules for this?

Ok so yea, all of you working out aficionados of the world can just go ahead & laugh. The only "working out" I have ever done was dancing & there was always a strict dress code. But I'm not thinking that pink tights & a black leotard are going to get me very far in losing this extra engagement weight around my hips.

I don't know who found out that I was dragging my feet about exercise due to sartorial stress, but Hanes sent over this goodie pack of their new panties & comfort flex fit bras & let me just say... I have no more excuses. This is happening.
Having the right undergarments that not only look good but actually fit & support in all the right ways is a game changer! I have never had a sportier that I am literally trying to wear under all of my clothes & I love how well the boy short panty stays put (no wedgies or VPLs!)

Have you checked out Hanes lately? I dare you to pick out your undercover color here & share it with the world (ok, just Twitter & maybe Facebook too!) using #UnderCoverColor & we can talk about our panties some more ;)
My Hanes #Undercovercolor is: hot pink!

  4. LOL, you're so funny! I'm with Britta - are the bras supportive? And are the undies comfy? I don't think I've worn anything Hanes for at least 15 years. I'm picky about my workout under garments but would love to add more to my collection!

  5. I was super happy with all my Hanes goodies. I've been strictly wearing VS for years but I seriously love this stuff. They sent me boy briefs which I've been wearing with a Hanes t-shirt for bed too. Love the colors you got here.

  10. I have found them to be very supportive (& for reference am about a C cup)... the best part is how snug they fit around the chest, really helps keep everything from jiggling around ;)

  13. These are such cute colourful pieces, sadly we don't get the brand here, seeing you in your chic sporty gear has motivated me to get some sort of exercise in! Thanks for your fashion input, I hope you have a great & productive week ahead.

  14. YES! I hate that! And most people just don't get it. I think I would wear some sort of bra 24-7 if I could!

  15. Lollll girl! I hear you! Me and working out do not belong in the same sentence together. And I've gained a good 15 to 20 lbs (damn doctor's office had to weigh me lol). I even had to go out and buy all new pants/jeans/etc....because nothing fits anymore. Btw, It helps to have clothes your comfortable in when working out:)! Rita @ www.CoastWithMe.com

  18. That's why I love yogalaties...or should I say, yogalaties DVD. I can work out without the sweat, without feeling like I'm having serious heart pains (although that's just me, not sure why by adrenaline or anything that gets my heart to speed up makes it excruciatingly painful!), and I can dress and look as bad as needed without having to worry. I could never, ever join a gym. I have a lot of anxiety and a LOT of pride/vanity.....yeah, gyms just aren't happening. haha
