I just can't get enough of this skirt & in fact, this here is a prelude to the next "Bloggers Who Budget" post. I hope you gals adore a wardrobe item that really goes the extra mile, on a regular person budget, as much as I do. It's officially my jam.

This time around, my friend Shelby encouraged me to pair said adored skirt with another primary color & to do this shirt poof over the belt trick. Seriously, isn't getting dressed more fun with friends!?

a little bit county

My friend Rachel & I thought that it would be fun to show our readers outfits that are a little bit of each of us. Me in Nashville & here in New York City.
Rachel used to live in Nashville & we almost met one time, except she never made it because she was hit by a truck (true story).
She now lives in The Big Apple & we will have to remain online friends, for now!

What I like about Nashville, is that no matter where you go, someone will be dressed in sweatpants & someone else spiffied up to the nines... no dress code needed!
This is my Nashville weekend look - perfect for going from brunch with the girls, popping into work, running errands, and walking the dogs. Leopard makes it fancy!
See, we aren't all rhinestone cowboys!
Here & Now : a little bit country
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt & knit pants // Madewell leopard skimmers // Old Navy utility vest (similar) }
I have only been to the Big City for one brief day, with bucket list plans to go again one day!
But when I think of women in New York City - walking miles in heels, hailing cabs, hoofing it up to a 5th floor studio, spending $10 for a cup of coffee - those are superwomen (hence the double cuffs).

So my vision of a NYC weekend look is feminine, but tough, with fierce heels & a purse big enough to conceal my flats in!
Here & Now : a little bit city
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt // Old Navy pencil skirt // Nine West leopard pumps (similar) // Wallis gold cuffs // Hobo purse }
Here & Now : chambray + pencil skirt
Here & Now : chambray + utility vest + knit pants + leopard flats
Here & Now : chambray + utility vest

Be sure to check out the looks that Rachel is rocking here
(I am obsessed with her "country" outfit, I think that means she needs to move back, right!?)
Does where you live have a "dress code"? A certain look?
Are you more Nashville? Or NYC?

P.S. Don't worry, I am a card carrying Nashvillian - my cowboy boots are prominently displayed in my shoe rack!

getting back on that horse

It isn't that I haven't gotten dressed since finishing my 30X30 Challenge, it just that I was a little "outfit photo" burned out. Not a real world problem, only a Fashion Blogger problem, but taking outfit of ones self every. single. day. is HARD
Ok, now that I have that whining out of my system, here is an outfit:
{ What I Wore: Francesca's cardigan, worm as a shirt // Tulle jacket // Citizens of Humanity jeans // Nine West leopard heels (on sale!) }

{ Get the Look }
red cropped jacket {$84.99} + houndstooth sweater {$98.00} + wide leg jeans {splurge $220, currently on sale for $67!! // save $39.97} + leopard heels {splurge $110.00 // save $20.98}
I have had all of these pieces in my closet since before I moved to Nashville - so at least 4 years, some even longer (the Tulle jacket & Citizen jeans are from when I used to work in a boutique, oh how I miss that 40% off discount!)

Yet I have somehow not arrived at this combination before today. I really like the "mod" look of the exaggerated houndstooth print, cropped jacket & wide leg pants.
Oh & after wearing skinny jeans pretty much everyday for the past few weeks, my legs feel so free in the comfort of all this denim space ... ahh!

Have you "rediscovered" anything in your closet lately?
After shunning 99% of my clothes during my 30X30, it is so nice to have all my lovelies back!

Happy Friday!
Congrats to the winner of my 30X30 celebration giveaway... was it you?
(the winner has been emailed, and if I don't hear back in 48 hours another will be picked)

P.S. When discovering all of these items in the back of my closet, I found many more that no longer fit my body/lifestyle, and listed them (at ridiculously low prices!) on Poshmark... check it out why don't you (so I can afford a new camera lens!!)

manly man, girly girl

{ What I Wore: Express knit vest // Polo Ralph Lauren button down // Citizens of Humanity flare leg jeans // Nine West leopard pumps }

striped button down {$15.80} + knit vest {$29.99} + brown belt {$12.99} + flare leg jeans {$69.95} + leopard pumps {$39.99}
I love seeing those little leopard points poking their heads out!
Sometime when I am feeling extra girlie, I think it is a grand time to pump some of my extra-masculine items with a feminine flair
