My friend Rachel & I thought that it would be fun to show our readers outfits that are a little bit of each of us. Me in Nashville & here in New York City.
Rachel used to live in Nashville & we almost met one time, except she never made it because she was hit by a truck (true story).
She now lives in The Big Apple & we will have to remain online friends, for now!
What I like about Nashville, is that no matter where you go, someone will be dressed in sweatpants & someone else spiffied up to the nines... no dress code needed!
This is my Nashville weekend look - perfect for going from brunch with the girls, popping into work, running errands, and walking the dogs. Leopard makes it fancy!
See, we aren't all rhinestone cowboys!
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt & knit pants // Madewell leopard skimmers // Old Navy utility vest (similar) } |
I have only been to the Big City for one brief day, with bucket list plans to go again one day! But when I think of women in New York City - walking miles in heels, hailing cabs, hoofing it up to a 5th floor studio, spending $10 for a cup of coffee - those are superwomen (hence the double cuffs). So my vision of a NYC weekend look is feminine, but tough, with fierce heels & a purse big enough to conceal my flats in! |
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt // Old Navy pencil skirt // Nine West leopard pumps (similar) // Wallis gold cuffs // Hobo purse } |
Be sure to check out the looks that Rachel is rocking here
(I am obsessed with her "country" outfit, I think that means she needs to move back, right!?)
Does where you live have a "dress code"? A certain look?
Are you more Nashville? Or NYC?
P.S. Don't worry, I am a card carrying Nashvillian - my cowboy boots are prominently displayed in my shoe rack!
I love your weekend look! I can never get enough leopard.

Both of your looks are adorable. I live in Richmond, and things sound a lot like Nashville. Some people are super-casual, but there are definitely some that go all-out!

Love both outfits! And I think either would work for running around ANY city! The city I live in is definitely more casual, but you can always find someone over or under dressed at any given moment - I'm usually somewhere in the middle :)
ReplyDeleteI love this, that vest is amazing!

So smart of you to carry flats in your bag! When I lived in NY, I would only wear heels if I was taking a cab :)

ReplyDeleteI love both of these outfits! Girls in NYC love the black and sunglasses, so you captured that!

I'm about 3 hours away from Nashville in Knoxville, TN! The "non-dress-code" dresscode applies here too!!! I love this shirt! Best chambray shirt I've seen to date!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you LOVE that pencil skirt?? I have the same one and wear the crap out of it. So comfortable with just enough sex kitten :) Love both of these looks!!

I LOVE both looks Jess! The vest, pants and flats are perfect. I would definitely try to rock something similar in NYC!
ReplyDeleteI take the lazy way out of the flats/heels dilemma in NYC: I wear flats to work, and I have a drawer in my desk that I keep brown, black, grey and nude heels in!
ReplyDeleteNashville is on my shortlist of places to visit! I've heard such good things about it (and the nearby whiskey trail!)
LOVE both of these looks on you Jess! You can totally rock the country mouse and city mouse looks (and WELL!)! Those double cuffs are amazing :)

Yes! Love both of these outfits! I've never seen those J.Crew pants, but they look perfect for more casual days. I also love the fit of that black skirt. I feel like if I wear a skirt that high I look crazy because of my chest, but I'm jealous it looks so cute on you!

First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question in which
ReplyDeleteI'd like to ask if you don't mind. I was interested to know how you center
yourself and clear your head before writing.
I've had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Appreciate it!
