style school is in session

{ What I Wore: necklaces c/o Sheer Addiction // J.Crew chambray top // J.Crew Factory striped skirt (similar) // Yuni Kelley bracelet // Michael Kors watch // Hobo purse (obsessed with this one) // ShoeMint "Bess" heels }

Looking for a some serious statement making necklaces? I am loving these Sheer Addiction jewels. Currently stacking the "Asher" & "Courtney" on repeat.
When J.Crew invites you for an evening of playing dress up in their new arrivals with fellow bloggers & cupcakes, you go. And then you Instagram the crap out of it... just sayin'.
Row 1: dressing room selfies... duh!
Row 2: The adorable Holly from Scuttle // quilted jacket + equestrian sweater // Kate from Stilettoed to Steeltoed getting her shop on
Row 5: two of our BlogNashville ladies // where three bloggers are present, you will find a room full of stylish shoes // camo pants + statement jewels + chic oxfords
Row 6: team oxford // decisions, decisions // tuxedo stripe chinos
Row 7: the things bloggers do to get "the shot" // dressing room damage // too. much. fun

But seriously, the J.Crew Fall collection is the things my dreams are made of.
Think lots of leather, bold colors, camo as a neutral, necklaces the bigger the better, menswear chic, & the uncanny ability that J.Crew has to constantly keep updating classics into totally covetable pieces season after season!

What is your favorite piece from the J.Crew new arrivals?

P.S. don't forget to enter to win a pair of earrings from Jojo Loves You {here}

P.P.S. I am linking up with the Walking in Memphis in High Heels Trend Spin {here}

a little bit county

My friend Rachel & I thought that it would be fun to show our readers outfits that are a little bit of each of us. Me in Nashville & here in New York City.
Rachel used to live in Nashville & we almost met one time, except she never made it because she was hit by a truck (true story).
She now lives in The Big Apple & we will have to remain online friends, for now!

What I like about Nashville, is that no matter where you go, someone will be dressed in sweatpants & someone else spiffied up to the nines... no dress code needed!
This is my Nashville weekend look - perfect for going from brunch with the girls, popping into work, running errands, and walking the dogs. Leopard makes it fancy!
See, we aren't all rhinestone cowboys!
Here & Now : a little bit country
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt & knit pants // Madewell leopard skimmers // Old Navy utility vest (similar) }
I have only been to the Big City for one brief day, with bucket list plans to go again one day!
But when I think of women in New York City - walking miles in heels, hailing cabs, hoofing it up to a 5th floor studio, spending $10 for a cup of coffee - those are superwomen (hence the double cuffs).

So my vision of a NYC weekend look is feminine, but tough, with fierce heels & a purse big enough to conceal my flats in!
Here & Now : a little bit city
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt // Old Navy pencil skirt // Nine West leopard pumps (similar) // Wallis gold cuffs // Hobo purse }
Here & Now : chambray + pencil skirt
Here & Now : chambray + utility vest + knit pants + leopard flats
Here & Now : chambray + utility vest

Be sure to check out the looks that Rachel is rocking here
(I am obsessed with her "country" outfit, I think that means she needs to move back, right!?)
Does where you live have a "dress code"? A certain look?
Are you more Nashville? Or NYC?

P.S. Don't worry, I am a card carrying Nashvillian - my cowboy boots are prominently displayed in my shoe rack!

light scare

{ H&M jacket (similar) // Boutique lace tank (crushing) // Gap jeans // Michael Kors sandals (loving these) // Hobo purse (similar) }

Self administered post-wedding weekend Essie pedicure
I used to be scared of wearing white or light colors, but ever since I found the wonder that is the Tide-to-go Pen, I am confident that even my clumsy self can wear light fabrics without stress! Not even squirmy babies can scare me now!

hairy situation

Phew, over the 2/3 hump of my 30X30 Remix Challenge... and loving that it is Friday!
Can we talk for a second about my hair? This, my friends, is my hair in its natural "style" (aka what happens when I sleep on my hair wet, and let it do its thang)... not quite anything really - not curly, not wavy, not straight... just kind of there...
I used to be really into "fixing" my hair, and actually won the Yearbook superlative for "Best Hair" in Junior High (picture perfect hot curler waves that my mom meticulously fixed for me every morning!). But now I try to be as low maintenance as possible and I think my hair is suffering. I guess you could say that my hair is healthier now from a lack of heat products that touch it... (glass half full kind of stuff!), but that is mostly just due to morning laziness!
{ Thrifted moto jacket {similar} / Genetic Skinny Jeans / Charlotte Russe booties{similar} / Hobo Purse / J.Crew Button down }
 I am looking into mixing up my hair situation. I have only ever processed my hair once, when I got a perm upon entering high school (what was I thinking!?). I usually alternate between a cycle of growing my hair out, cutting it off to donate, then growing it back out long again. I currently am in the "growing it back out" stage after cutting off over 10 inches in December of 2010.
Right now I am really into ombre hair coloring, but also dream of one day being a red-head (crazy town!). Maybe I just need to chop it all off and be brave! Or how knows what!?
Any suggestions!?
xx

P.S. TGIF, seriously, thank you Friday! I needed you!

lady in red

{ StyleMint tee / Jason Wu for Target skirt / Nine West Pumps / Homemade freshwater pearl necklace / Hobo Purse {similar} }
Give me a flirty skirt, pearls, heels, sunnies, and a structured bag and I am a set to act like a movie star for the day! This skirt sure has been getting a workout during my 30X30 Challenge (here & here), yet its pleats are still perfectly pressed. And here I thought it was hard to be a "lady" - cross your legs, check your lipstick, fix your hair, starch your shirt, polish your shoes... purchase a magical pleated skirt... easy peasy!
Oh, and P.S. I am wearing shoes, my boyfriend's lawn is just eating them in this picture! Yikes!
What pieces in your wardrobe are getting an extra work out this season?
xx

P.S. The winner of my first ever giveaway was Shanna! Congrats lady, I will be contacting you soon!
Everyone else - thank you for entering, and please stay tuned, as I hope to have these more often in the near future!
