stripes on the town

{ What I Wore: Boutique Onze dress // Plato's closet jacket // Charlotte Russe booties }
{ Get the Look }
stripe dress {$69.99} + moto jacket {$60.00} + pink scarf {$15.99} + black booties {$38.50, buy one get one for $15.50!}
The pieces that I love adding to my wardrobe are those that I can imagine styling in a million ways from day time errands to evenings out on the town. This stripe dress was a score from Boutique Onze using a giveaway gift card won from Adventures in Fashion, & when it arrived I immediately conjured up at least 10 outfits that I can't wait to share with you - this particular rendition is called "chic errand Saturday".
What is your go-to styling foundation piece?

stock up

Good Morning. Just a little blogging business before getting to today's outfit.

Firstly, over the weekend I ponied up the $10/year to purchase my own domain name... getting crazy!
So please redirect your browsers to myhereandnowlife.com instead of the previous blogspot domain.

Secondly, when updating said domain name, I was doing some maintenance on the widget (Disqus) that manages my comments, and realized that 100+ non-spam comments were sitting in my spam folder... SADNESS! I really do my best to reply to and visit the blog of each commenter, and apologize for missing some of your very sweet comments because I am CLUELESS about most aspects of running this little corner of the internets... I won't let it happen again, and I hope to be better at continually teaching myself more and more about the technical intricacies of blogging... so much to learn!

Phew... oh and all of the comments from the past 6 months have disappeared,
but they "say" they "might" come back... fingers crossed!

UPDATE: I just DOMINATED some Disqus, and found all my old comments. So if anyone else is having similar problems, shoot them my way... I think I might be able to help!
{ What I Wore: thrifted moto-jacket (obsessed with this real leather moto jacket from Zara) // Target jersey skirt // Gianni Bini jelly flats (similar) // J.Crew appliqué floral shirt }
This skirt is one I regret not getting in every color. Comfortable, wrinkle resistant, soft, flattering, goes with everything... and less than $15! For some reason, Target only has one color on their website right now, but in my local store they carry it in every rainbow color and several patterns... I am trying to talk myself out of going back and snatching up all the others before everyone else figures out this little secret!
What summer staples are you stocking up on now?
Have any perennial favorites that you would like to share with the group?

hairy situation

Phew, over the 2/3 hump of my 30X30 Remix Challenge... and loving that it is Friday!
Can we talk for a second about my hair? This, my friends, is my hair in its natural "style" (aka what happens when I sleep on my hair wet, and let it do its thang)... not quite anything really - not curly, not wavy, not straight... just kind of there...
I used to be really into "fixing" my hair, and actually won the Yearbook superlative for "Best Hair" in Junior High (picture perfect hot curler waves that my mom meticulously fixed for me every morning!). But now I try to be as low maintenance as possible and I think my hair is suffering. I guess you could say that my hair is healthier now from a lack of heat products that touch it... (glass half full kind of stuff!), but that is mostly just due to morning laziness!
{ Thrifted moto jacket {similar} / Genetic Skinny Jeans / Charlotte Russe booties{similar} / Hobo Purse / J.Crew Button down }
 I am looking into mixing up my hair situation. I have only ever processed my hair once, when I got a perm upon entering high school (what was I thinking!?). I usually alternate between a cycle of growing my hair out, cutting it off to donate, then growing it back out long again. I currently am in the "growing it back out" stage after cutting off over 10 inches in December of 2010.
Right now I am really into ombre hair coloring, but also dream of one day being a red-head (crazy town!). Maybe I just need to chop it all off and be brave! Or how knows what!?
Any suggestions!?
xx

P.S. TGIF, seriously, thank you Friday! I needed you!

tough girl

Day 12 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge: Mixing a delicate cream silk shell with tougher dark pieces. I got crazy and even paired my booties with a skirt/dress for the first time... wild child!
I think balance is key to the perfect outfit - feminine + masculine, girlie + tough, silks + spikes, leather + glitter, bows + blazers.... you get the idea?

Doug is checking out my fierce shoes!
Off to twirl and frolic... 75 and sunny here!

work it wednesday: red jeggings

Gap Jeggings
Moto-Jacket (old) {similar}
Heels Forever21
Tank Ted Baker
Necklaces: Forever21 {similar}, DIY

I cannot get over how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new colored denim. It is such a breeze to transform these colored jeggings from weekend wear to date night and everywhere in between.

I definitely have been working these pants - but maybe I need to step out of my red + white + gray comfort zone. I just don't know what other colors to wear it with. Red + Yellow = McDonald's, Red + Green = Christmas, Red + Purple = royalty, Red + Brown = gross.
I am thinking that Red + Pink, Red + Camel, Red + Blue or Red + Red
might be interesting combos to explore too.

{preppy sweater, girlie rocker, weekend casual}

What do you think?
Have you been working some colored denim lately?

with an edge

Jacket - Plato's Closet
Shirt - StyleMint
Pants - J.Crew
Shoes - Charlotte Russe
It has been a while since my last bowling outing (maybe since last year's annual family Thanksgiving bowling showdown), but let's be honest, I was never great in the first place. A good day of bowling for me is breaking 100... but I got lucky this time around, and broke 100 and got 3 strikes in a row (Turkey!) Maybe I will actually make a run for this year's family championship over Thanksgiving. Ha!

(P.S how sad is it that I was sore for 2 days after bowling... who knew it was such a workout!?)
 Ready for action; Strike!; Spare!
