For 2013 I am budgeting my clothing allowance based on the entire year. Sound crazy? Read more about it { here }
Disclaimer: all of these purchases were made before Ty & I started seriously thinking about our wedding (AKA realized how much it costs!)
While I employed my smart shopping tips & am super pleased with everything that came home with me this month, I know that I am going to have to think extra hard about any unnecessary spending going forward...
saying that here on the internet will hopefully keep me accountable!
My three Old Navy sundresses (pink // neon // stripe) have already gotten a lot of action here on the blog (wore pink here & here, neon here & striped here) & I plan on keeping them on heavy rotation right on into Spring (especially with my new teal necklace c/o Hello Fab)
3 sundresses = $70.00 (purchased with 30% off coupon, retail value = $94.82)
My package from J.Crew Factory just arrived so I haven't really had a chance to wear these pieces much, unless you call styling outfits in my bathroom "wearing"
I got the ballet wellies to replace of my previous pair that I literally wore into the ground, much less clunky to wear during these Spring showers & highly recommended by me!
J.Crew Factory: eyelet skirt // ballet wellies // striped tank // black tank = $117.37
(purchased with 40% off coupon, retail value = $223.50)

you did a great job this month
ReplyDeleteLove all those ON sundresses. Weddings are SO expensive- it's crazy!
ReplyDeleteYou got some really awesome stuff–I love those dresses!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking to that pink Old Navy dress again, I must have missed it the first time! I need a dress for a semi-casual summer wedding, and this one is perfect in teal. And budget-friendly too, I think that leaves me room for some cute sandals to go with it :).
ReplyDeleteI really love all three of the dresses you got! Weddings are crazy expensive...looking back I kinda wish I hadn't spent as much as I did!

I have never heard of ballet wellies before! Those are so cool!
ReplyDeleteWell, I went to Old Navy with the specific purpose of looking for the pink eyelet dress and black/white striped dress, after seeing them on you and thinking they are both awesome! The pink one was way short on me, and the black/white striped dress was sold out in my size. I did end up with a few other things, so it all worked out!
ReplyDeleteI wanted that J.crew tank top so badly, but couldn't get my hands on it. The eyelet lace skirt is a real beauty too :) Have fun with all the wedding planning! xo Nikki
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration. I really need to work on a budget.

I bought those ballet wellies (with the gc I won from you!) and I am SO happy I did. I'm actually wearing them right now. Which isn't surprising because they don't leave my feet often.
ReplyDeleteI love love love that you do a budget. We love Dave Ramsey and are working on this currently. ; )
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE those tanks and thought about getting one for myself but now that I have had kids the uh, er, um bra situation is a little more necessary than before. Do you plan to do strapless (super personal question, I know!) :) Those dresses are fab! My round up goes on the blog later this week!
ReplyDeleteI love the back of these tanks & when I want to show off the back I wear a strapless (or nothing at all... itty bitty titty committee member over here)! The one time I wore the black one so far this spring I layered a cardigan over it so wore my regular brassiere! (you can see a strapless bra situation going on with a similar tank here: http://www.myhereandnowlife.com/2012/08/tell-me-what-you-want-what-you-really.html)

That necklace is great!
ReplyDeleteSince I just started my blog a few weeks ago, I've sort of had a problem with wanting to buy everything in order to be as pretty as the bloggers I've come to love. If you have a minute, tmrw I'll be sharing my March/April purchases and you can see just how crazy of a shopper I've been lately! I'd love to hear what you think!

... and that is exactly how my mind works as well ;)

Really? What would you have saved vs. still splurged on?
ReplyDeletexx
They are must haves for Spring!
ReplyDeletexx
boo, & yay...!? I would stalk the website/your local store for a re-stock!
ReplyDeletexx
yay yay yay! Love to hear that lady!
ReplyDeletexx
Yay for shared brainwaves lady! I haven't worn it yet, but I'm pretty sure once i put that skirt on, it is not going to be coming off any time soon this Spring!

Still thinking about it... I do know that some "wedding purchases" are going to make their way into the budget... like engagement photoshoot outfits, party dresses, etc.... but I haven't thought about adjusting the year budget as a whole yet... hrm!

I just picked up the black and white dress from ON this weekend, I didn't realize how great the material was until I saw it in person! You did really well this month, good luck with the wedding budgeting :)

Nope, not crazy at all. Very, very smart. I budget my purchases by season, with the bulk of my purchases going towards spring and summer clothes, since I live in Miami and all. This year I have to be smarter about buying bathing suits, which I need more of, and not cute summer tops and dresses (I have plenty of those!).
ReplyDeleteI did all my spring purchases this month, and I spent about $250 total. More than I would've liked, actually. But my birthday's in May! I deserved it... Or so I tell myself. I did return some items, so at the end my purchases will be around $190.

I totally suck at this...how bad is it that I have ZERO clue how much I spent on clothes this month. I REALLY need to join you ladies...it's out of control...BTW, LOVE those wellies....adorbs!!
ReplyDeleteI actually found a dress at Gap that is basically the love child of those 2 other dresses. It's a pink and white striped dress in a similar cut. I'm very happy with it, and feel like it fills my need for the other 2!
ReplyDeleteI love the pieces you got- right up my alley style-wize! Great savings too girl- way to go!
