boaters

Last Summer it was all about the Panama Hat (I wore mine to death - see the outfits here), but 2016 is the year of the boater hat! I just picked up this one from Sole Society & I'm confident you will be seeing it on the blog many times in the coming months. I like how it adds a touch of French gamine to my favorite warm weather dresses!

One feature I didn't expect about this hat - it has a hidden adjustable drawstring that allows it to be perfectly fitted to most any head size… my weirdly sized head much appreciates it!

You know those ridiculous "stranded on a deserted island" questions? Well, if I was stranded on a deserted island, and could only purchase 1 brand of shoes, I would easily pick Sole Society! Also loving these platform espadrilles from Sole Society (like an unreasonable amount of love for these shoes!)

Bloggers Who Budget: Wedding Guest

Wedding season is still in full swing, so I am super excited to steal lots of style inspiration from my fellow Bloggers Who Budget ladies today. 8 wedding guest styles for under $100!
Sharing My Sole | The Style Letters | Let It Be Beautiful | Here & Now | Pearls & Twirls | Stylin in St. Louis | Living in Color | The Pumpkin Spot
{ What I wore to a wedding: dress ℅ Androbel // Steve Madden heels // sunglasses ℅ Krewe Optic // Rebecca Minkoff purse }
My wedding guest style tips:
1. Don't wear white. While many style rules have been repealed, this one is still in full effect.
2. Dress to impress, but keep it out of "party in da club" territory. The bride and groom invited you to share in their big day, not to give their grandparents a heart attack.
3. Keep it simple. Weddings can be long days, even if you are just a guest. Pack the necessities in a small bag, wear clothing that you feel comfortable in, and rock a hairstyle that will hold up on the dance floor.
4. Ask the bridal party. Invite didn't have a dress code? Not sure what "boho chic" means? Reach out to the bridal party, they will have the inside scoop.
I have a few more weddings this year & then next year's dance card is already getting filled up too. This hi-low dress from Androbel is definitely going to be my go-to wedding look. I love how easy breezy chic this dress is! Pick up one of your own here.

I was just introduced to Androbel and am obsessed with their selection of feminine, elegant, fun & original pieces! The founder of the brand believes in "pieces that will be "in" season after season", & this dress is certainly that!
This is a sponsored post on behalf of Adorn Media Group + Androbel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Black & Navy

I would like to think that I am color combo adventurous… but black + navy has always scared me. My fears stem from the fact that my pre-coffee eyes often have a hard time differentiating navy vs. black in the first place, & I live in fear that I will show up to work in a color mis-matched outfit.

But now that I made myself try it on purpose, I have overcome my fears & must say, I love it!

my Minkoff story

Well, I guess I should just come out & say it. I've drank the kool-aid. That whole "other half" that loves designer bags... I totally get it now!
For my 26th birthday (this past August) I used some birthday cash & bought my first "designer bag".
No it isn't a LV that I dropped $5k on, but being that it was a couple of Benjamins, I spent LOTS of time deliberating over which bag would be my "first" (Ty, not that I am going to buy many more or anything...)
I have had a girl crush on Rebecca Minkoff & her fabulous bags for some time. So I popped into my Nordstrom & totally annoyed the sales girl checked out the RM bags (& by that I mean I meticulously touched, turned over, tried on, stuffed my phone into all the pockets, etc... you know what normal people do)
{ What I Wore: Old Navy utility vest + flannel shirt // Madewell jeggings // J.Crew belt + socks // Frye "Campus" boots (we have the factory in my town & they only cost $80 there!) // Rebecca Minkoff purse }
In the end I fell in love with this style (the "5 zip mini") & particular color because it makes a statement but is still so versatile. Those little nubs on the bottom & the long tassel-like zipper pulls are SO luxe to me!
The bag can be worn 4 ways (long shoulder, crossbody, short shoulder bag or clutch), with all the pockets I was looking for. I went with gray not only because it is my favorite neutral, going from brown to black with ease, but because I didn't have a gray purse in my closet yet.
So that is my Minkoff story.
Have you drank the designer purse kool-aid?
Do you manage to turn something as fun as purse shopping into a neurotic pro & con column like me? (haha, j/k... but seriously)

take me out to the Ryman

{ What I Wore: H&M hat & leather jacket // Forever21 top // Old Navy jeans & booties // Rebecca Minkoff purse }

When people ask me to describe my style in 3 words, I get anxiety. How could I possibly limit my style to 3 piddly words?! I am at times preppy, boho, classic, trendy, relaxed, structured, feminine, mens-wear inspired, hipster, uptown, downtown... & so on!
The thing is, I am still on my style journey. Finding things that work & leaving behind what doesn't.
Living in Nashville certainly influences my style & I love introducing this new layer of boots, leather, boho hats & skinny skinny jeans (yup, even the dudes wear them!) to my outfits. Sometimes all at once!
I wore this outfit 2 weeks ago (seen here on Insta) for a spectacular evening at the Ryman Auditorium with my Ty. Back in May I scooped us up tickets to the quickly sold out Alt-J with Lord Huron show. I have been OBSESSED with Lord Huron since their album's debut last year. In fact, we only have one song picked out for our wedding ceremony so far & it is the Lord Huon number below.

After purchasing the tickets last Spring, my dear friend surprised me by putting my sister & I on "the list" for Lord Huron's show at The Webster in NYC during our visit in July. I belted out every single word to every single song & definitely got some chill bumps a time or two!
it. was. magical.

So seeing them a second time was just the sweetest! Especially with my manfriend in tow to make googly eyes at the whole time... music makes me mushy!
I didn't even know much about Alt-J, the headliner of the show. Boy was I in for a special treat!
I have put my favorite Lord Huron & Alt-J songs below... maybe you will find something you like too! I love sharing & connecting with others over music!!
If you are looking for something folksy, make you wanna stomp your boots & belt it out with the windows down, Lord Huron is your jam.
On the other hand, Alt-J is kind of trippy, but it seriously gets inside your soul with that beat & the lyrics keep you coming back for more. Let's tessellate:
