poncho rules

{ What I Wore: ponchoFringe & Lace // Old Navy gingham top & Rockstar Skinny jeans // ShoeMint loafers }
I'm new to this whole poncho wearing thing, but like I do with every other aspect of my life, I have made up some rules anyways… poncho rules:

{1.} don't be afraid to move your arms like a normal person… it WILL stay on

{2.} treat it like a regular sweater (but always remember in your head, it's not like those other sweaters, its a cool sweater!) <-- Mean Girls reference

{3.} people will think you are more worldly… so think of cool BS stories from the the get-go

{4.} ponchos are the new vests (there I said it.)
And head on over to the Fringe & Lace blog for the MidWeek MixUp to see the final rule in action:
{5.} Ponchos ARE for date nights

heart on my sleeve

{ What I Wore: sweaterFringe & Lace // Forever21 tank // Storets leather skirt // Sole Society heels // clutch ℅ Gigi New York }
Disclaimer: these days my legs are covered by a minimum of three layers at all times (currently sweatpants, a pug heating pad, & blanket), but when these photos were taken it was solidly bare leg weather. Additionally, I would love this outfit just as much with tights!
Sometimes you spot two items in your closet cozily nestled up to each other & think, "well, that could be interesting"… & then you try it out & it is your favorite combo to date! Thanks closet for coming up with this outfit!

To see the other way I rocked this adorable heart sweater, catch the other half of this week's MidWeek Mixup right over here!
Happy hump day y'all!

P.S. Enter to win a $50 credit to the Fringe & Lace shop over on Ashlyn's gorgeous blog!

P.P.S. There is still time to meet this month's blogger in the spotlight & enter her great giveaway too! Head right {here}

smell-o-vision

{ What I Wore: J.Crew Factory blouse // H&M jacket // necklace (similar) & "Tribal Time" skirt c/o Fringe & Lace // ShoeMint "Lola" heels // Silvano sunglasses c/o }
In things that are weird:
Last night I had a dream in smell-o-vision. Seriously, I woke up & the smell was still so strong, long after I had forgotten what the dream was even about. It was the smell of the spray that I used to scrunch my hair back in the Summer of the perm... & it took me right back to that Summer. That Summer was special, on a warm camp night in the heart of the Texas Hill County I had my first kiss... & then we danced to Jack Johnson's "Flake".  ah, young love!

Crazy how I can still remember that smell & I am right back as a twitterpated girl, wearing ties as belts, sneaking off to get "cokes" with Wade, during one of my last Summers at Mo Ranch. Oh of the mysteries of the human brain.
In things that are less weird:
This Fringe & Lace circle skirt is not only super flattering (my thighs are an area of self-consciousness for me), but goes easily from tough girl glam to comfy chic weekend wear.
You know what that means, it's time for the MidWeek Mixup!
See the weekend look by popping over to the Fringe & Lace blog!

Have you ever had smell-o-vision dreams?!
How would you wear this pretty black & white skirt?

P.S. Don't forget to enter this week's giveaway for a chance to win one of two necklaces from Jeweler's Wife {here}.

Fall Back

What's worse than a fashion blogger talking about the weather?
A fashion blogger complaining about other people's weather related rants & then launching into her own. Yup, that's about to happen!
{ What I Wore: Sweater + necklace + bracelets c/o Fringe & Lace // J.Crew olive skinnies + chambray top // Old Navy booties // Philip Lim x Target satchel }
We are 6 days into November & Tennessee has so far gifted us 80 degree days & 30 degree nights. To say that I have a hard time getting dressed (in the dark) in the mornings is an under statement.
Right now things that look like clothes but feel like pajamas are on the top of my list (AKA pile of clothes on the ground).
Not only did I reveal in coziness in this sweater over the weekend, I styled up an outfit for you office-dweling folks as well! Check out the office appropriate style post on the Fringe & Lace blog & let me know:
would you rather rock this sweater for work or for play?

wrap it up

{ What I Wore: burgundy red Esprit fedora hat c/o Surfdome (similar here) // "Keeping it Cozy" sweater c/o Fringe & Lace // J.Crew tank // "Emerald City" necklace c/o Fringe & Lace // Denizen bootcut jeans c/o People Style Watch StyleHunters // "All in One" clutch c/o Gigi New York // Charlotte Russe wedge booties
stack 'em up, all bracelets Fringe & Lace.
Well what do you know, I haven't managed to fall off the "Take One, Pass It On" challenge wagon yet.
In fact I even took 2 items from yesterday's outfit & styled them up today. Boo-yeah!

In news more exciting than how I may or may not be competent enough to dress myself, I have an exciting announcement to make! You are looking at the newest contributor over on Fringe & Lace, an online shop featuring everything you will want to add to your closet, all for under $100! I have talked about my darling friend Natalie's online boutique before & I'm beyond excited that she has invited me to be a member of her team.

What do we have cooking? Well, to start with, a weekly feature where I will style up a Fringe & Lace item TWO ways. You just saw the first way I wore this fab open front sweater, but you will have to head on over to the Fringe & Lace blog to peep my other outfit (it involved liquid leather... go on, click it!)

Thank you for always being supportive of the new endeavors I take on, very excited about what the future holds!
