As soon as I saw this dress in the H&M, I knew it was the perfect dress to rock at the Kentucky Derby. But at the time, I had to idea of its ulterior motives. It was a unconscious conscious decision. What's that you say... confused?
Let me explain.
I try my best to soften my footprint on the Earth: recycle, reuse, thrift, swap, purchase organic/sustainable products, avoid plastic grocery bags, and drive only when necessary... but this is no easy task, and I fail daily. So imagine my surprise, when I fall in love with a dress, bring it home, then realize that it is made with environmentally friendly conscious actions... go you dress!
In fact, H&M has a whole line dedicated to using "conscious actions" and an emphasis on manufacturing with environmentally friendly materials... icing on the cake for their trendy and affordable styles! Everyone else, take note!
P.S. who knew that is what the H and M in H&M stood for!? |
Check out these amazing items from the H&M conscious collection... that lace, and ruffles, and detail work... friendly to the environment and me!
All of the items I featured here are very reasonable priced (I usually expect to pay more for organic sustainable items) - the exception being the middle ruffled dress. At $300, it certainly is a splurge, but I sure do wish I was getting married cause I would be all over that dress for picture sessions/engagement parties/reception dancing... engaged friends, get on it!
What piece from the collection is your favorite?
Any other designers that have caught your eye for their Earth friendly practices?

I saw the pencil skirt in person and it is gorgeous, but I didn't see the mint tank, which is amazing - I'm going to swing by H&M after work to see if I can snag one! Great finds!
ReplyDeletelove all the lace and ruffle detail!
ReplyDeleteNoooo... I am praying to the H&M gods that we can get one here in Nashville first! I mean, at least give us online shopping! I can't believe there isn't one here or in Austin... what the heck!?

Wow, awesome! I had no idea they had a line like this! (Didn't know about the H&M acronym either). My faves are the pink pencil skirt & the pink dress. Well, and of course your dress!! :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the ruffled dress... Also, I did know what H&M stands for because my family traveled to Scandinavia a lot when I was little....

I use it and love it. No its not clothing, but an awesome way to do all the above, us a earth friendly solution, and drive down your carbon foot print because it takes less space and weight to ship!

I just bought that lace tank yesterday!! It's even more ADORABLE in person. So pretty and girlie. Only thing is, I was hoping to get the mint green, but had to settle for the coral because my H&M didn't have the green. :(
ReplyDeleteExcellent picks!
Oh love those shorts! Great buy... and look at you being nice to the environment too!

Yes, sadly the closest H&M is 4 hours from me, and I always end up going crazy in there since I don't know when I will be able to get back! haha
