resolution round up: April

Wow - 2012 is flying by! I am still reeling that April is gone, and we are into May already!
4 months ago I pledged to keep 12 resolutions in 2012...
So how have I been doing? (January, February round-ups)

health: I am ok with the fact that I am never going to be a person that wants to "workout" by going to the gym... instead I am trying to be active in my daily life (walking to work, doing Pilates at my house, playing with the Pug, and laughing with friends).
Dancing counts as a workout... right!?
I am also looking into mixing up my diet (not diet as in taking in less calories, just my daily eating habits)... maybe less grains, more color... I'll keep you posted!

financial: April was a lean month - moving and decorating a new place sure is expensive! But the new place carries a cheaper monthly rent payment, and while I have lots of expenses (weddings, travel, etc) coming up, I am doing really great with my budgeting (mint.com) so that I can enjoy the travel and time with friends stress free.
Maybe next time we will splurge for movers... this You-Haul stuff is for the BIRDS!
relationships: April was also a little less fruitful for the wallet because I had numerous social outings and weekend travel - I would rather sacrifice going out for lunch so that I can attend an event with friends... so no complaints here. My girlfriends and I have actually started a monthly Bunco night, and we have way more fun than we should!

Ty and I are in a great place too. I am letting him love me in his own way, and we couldn't be happier!
Afternoon at the vineyards with the girls
BUNCO!
Can't think of a better Saturday night than boogieing down at a wedding with my bestie!

spiritual: {Repeat from February} Haven't found a "home" church yet... working on making a better effort to fight my desire to sleep in on Sundays, and in stead get up, participate in some worship, and make Sundays more effective (this needs to be more of a priority)

lifestyle: Moving to a new place has motivated me to start trying new recipes, get out to walk around and practice my photography skills around my new neighborhood.

Maybe I will drop out of grad school and start a band!

2012 has definitely already been a year of new things and changes
Loving every moment of my Here&Now
Did you make resolutions?
Are you keeping them? Be honest!

  2. Bunco is a dice game that is really more about having an excuse to get together with my girlfriends and drink wine! hehe

  3. This is the first year that I have been serious about reflecting on my resolutions. Grad school has definitely dealt me more failures than successes, so it is very easy to be negative... but yes, it is all about how you control the reactions. At first I really let it get to me, and know I have come to accept that it is all part of the process, and happy hour doesn't hurt either! Good luck - remember it is about the journey, maybe that will help!

  4. Thank you! I had a church here in Nashville, but it wasn't the fit for both me and my boyfriend... so we are still looking for "our" church... quite the process!

  5. I have heard of Bunco groups...I'm not really sure what it is though. As for 'resolutions,' I didn't make any because I knew I couldn't keep them. Ugh, what's wrong with me? And dancing is totally a workout!!! :)

  6. I must admit to never making New Year's resolutions, although I have set some goals for myself recently.  The most important one currently is trying to be the most positive person I know.  Grad school has really effected by outlook and attitude, and not in a good way.  However despite the circumstances, my reaction to them is totally in my control, so I'm trying to kick the negativity.  It sounds like you're doing wonderfully with yours, and congrats on the new place and upcoming wedding!

  7. Girl, our goals could not be more in line with each other...however, we did find a home church about 3 years ago and LOVE it.  It is truly the best way to kick off the week.  Keep up the good work and holding yourself accountable!  ;)

  12. Super cute post! And such a great idea.  I know I am not doing very well on some of my resolutions but great on others! And YES dancing with friends definitely counts as working out! It better at least ;) I usually take a couple days to recover after a night out of dancing with my girlfriends!

  13. Love hearing that you're doing well Jessica! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. My hair was done at Drybar, a blowout salon, the night before . It's usually not that wispy but for my hair, I do always use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and I think thats what makes my hair shiny.

  15. I love how you do a recap of your life! Moving definitely is expensive. I moved into a new apartment in November and I'm still decorating/organizing. Yikes!

  16. I love this post!  I don't go to the gym either, but I would like to eat more grains as well.  My husband and I had agreed to each cook a few healthy meals a week... that lasted for about 3 weeks.  Haha, oops! :)
