What you see here is just a tiny sliver of what I wear… in a good week, I share 3 outfit photos, and I assure you I get dressed everyday. Somedays I go to work in one outfit, then come home and change for the evening activities. On the weekends I sometimes change a lot, depending on my mood, the weather, spilling things on myself (they don't call me Messica Jessica for nothing), etc. That is just to say, what I share here are the outfits that I like the most, the ones that I hope you will like to. I have bad outfit days, and times when I feel downright frumpy/sloppy/uncute.
I think my Birks are the epitome of this whole situation. I have had these shoes since college, the last time they made an appearance on the "cool" radar cycle. And I have never stopped wearing them since. They did however not make it on the blog much in the last 3 years because they were too crunchy, off the beaten path, uncool. And for that I apologize. I want to do a better job about documenting my outfits. The ones I wear just to the grocery store. What I throw on for a last minute get together. Just everyday me!

ReplyDeleteI would venture to guess that 80% of my outfits aren't "blog worthy" or even Instagram for that matter! On the weekends I live in workout tanks and shorts.

I'm SO glad that you admit what I am guilty of--only posting my favorite outfits that I think will be accepted! Of course there are times when I get all dolled up, but you hit the nail on the head about the "grocery store" outfits! Love your honesty, and love this outfit. I don't own Birks, and I'm not crazy about them. But I do own a pair of Minnetonka mocs that are older than I am. They're my go-to for everything and I have alot of friends who think they're hideous. I know they're not exactly attractive, but I refuse to give them up! Keep up the great work; love reading your posts regularly! :)

I must say lady, your legs are looking FIERCE these days! Not that you ever looked bad before (ever) but the last few posts I've thought "damn, nice stems!" Haha...anyway, I also must compliment you on this look. I rarely like jean on jean looks but this looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on Birks.....First of all, I think they perfectly compliment this outfit. I love that these are the pair that you've had since college and that you're finally rocking them on the blog. It's weird to me that they're coming back in style. I never found them to be comfortable so I never wore them. But I had plenty of friends who loved them. If you've been wearing them since the last time they were cool then I say rock on! Otherwise, I kinda feel like they're a trend better left in the late 90's.

ReplyDeleteThe only outfits of mine that don't make it to my blog are ones that I didn't have time to take good photos of - before it got too dark or rainy or whatever. But it sounds like you wear more than you even have time to share, so I think it's totally fine for you to pick and choose your favorites to share! As for Birkenstocks, I find them INCREDIBLY UNcomfortable. Yeah, ya heard right. My feet are super flat, so the high, firm arch "support" just feels like a big lump to me.

I don't blog most of the outfits I wear. I wear mostly shorts and t-shirts or dresses during the summer, and they don't feel like they are worth sharing most of the time! I also repeat outfits a LOT. The outfits I do share are the ones I hope inspire people (and they're slowly getting better as I'm figuring things out, haha). :)

Thank you lady! I think it is from all the walking in heels I do at school now… went from A TON of sitting as a graduate student, to being up on my feet all day as a teacher… good way to get all those recommended steps in!

I get that - my arches are high, so I actually enjoy wearing heels, and Birks feel great. But you gotta first be comfortable, and then be cute, so whatever works for you!
