mission accomplished

There should have definitely been more jumping in this photo shoot, because I have COMPLETED the 30X30 Remix Challenge!
Woo to the hoo! Now I can start dreaming up outfits with the other 90% of my closet!
Totes ready!!

{ Gap jeggings / J.Crew silk shell and flats {affordable option} / Scarf from Venice, Italy }
But seriously, this challenge has definitely made me look at my accessories in a whole new light... scarves are officially my new BFFs... and I hadn't realized I had so many (herehere, here, here)

I'll be back tomorrow morning for a round up of all 30 of my looks + the lessons I have learned about a healthy closet over the past month!

mint basics

Day 29 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge... SOOOOO close!
At this point, I have taken to standing in front of my closet and dreaming of wearing the rest of my clothes that haven't been touched in almost a month! I feel like I am neglecting my babies, they miss me... ha!
I might have a problem :)
I guess it is good that I am going to be so excited to wear my own clothes, that I won't need to go shopping!

petite problems

Good Morning. Day 18 of my 30X30 Challenge... only a couple of days behind, and I have only had 1 baby cheating incident... so far so good in my book!
I have a question for you... do you let your skinny jeans "pool" around your ankles, roll them up, or get them tailored to hit at a specific point on your legs?
As a person who measures in under 5' 4", pants rarely have an inseam that is perfect for me. I have accepted this reality, but I am do not currently have a uniform way of dealing with the issue... you would think that by the time I am 24.5 I would have a method for masking my deficit at filing out pants... le sigh
{ J.Crew shirt and flats {similar} / Mint Blank Denim Jeans via ModCloth / Splendid Sweater {very similar, from Forever 21} / Boutique Purse }
Today I am rocking the "two-inches-too-long" is intentional look... if you got it flaunt it... right? right?

black & tan

Day 14 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge... chugga chugga, chugga chugga... I'm the little engine that could!
I'm still loving on some stripes! I think after my shopping hiatus is over, I am going to have to make this striped tee mine! Well that and a million other things I am lusting after. Stay strong Jessica! And J.Crew, stop having sales, till next month that is!
{ Skirt {similar}, shirt {love this one}, shoes {Target version} - all J.Crew, bag - Vintage, necklace - handmade }
I know I am trying to live for the "Here&Now", but my brain is fried and I need Friday to be here already! I am going to happy hour with my Habitat Young Professionals (HYP, pronounced "hip") group tonight. Since I am a graduate student who could wear sweats to lab if I really wanted to, and the other members are actual factual "professionals", I decided to play dress up in my pencil skirt! Bring it on happy hour!

Also, don't forget to enter my first every give away for a beautiful BaubleBar necklace {here}
Thank you for all your support yesterday! Still beaming!

madame mix alot

Day 13 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge and I am mixing it up with stripes + floral patterns. Print mixing has been all over the internets, and I am glad I finally took the plunge!
I was nervous to dip my toe into this trend, but mixing florals and stripes seemed a natural place to start
(it also helps that there are so many amazing printed clothing items in stores right now!).
The images below are from two lovely bloggers who had great advice for first time print mixers.
Helpful tips:
- Mix patterns/prints that have similar color palettes (red strips + floral skirt with red tones)
- Stripes play well with most other patterns
- Most importantly, have fun. Mix prints from your closet until you get a good match!

Other mixing pairs I am wanting to try (after my 30 day challenge):
floral+leopard, stripes+stripes, floral+dots
Have you tried print mixing yet? Which patterns did you pair up together?

camel humps

Happy hump day y'all!
Day 5 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge (1/6 of the way through!) wa-hoo!
I should have thought about my wardrobe when considering what type of dog to purchase. Most of my wardrobe basics are black, and with a tan dog (that sheds like CA-Razy!), I definitely have to stock up on lent rollers. I am moving towards more camel basics, not only is camel totally "having a moment", but now I am be covered in dog hair and no one would know! Yup, I am a crazy dog lady!
Dear Pug, Good thing I love you!

Downward slide to the weekend!
Planning anything fun this weekend?
We are having a Mustache Party at my place this weekend, we are so cheesy and I love it!

easter egg

Hello lovies!
Day 4 of my 30X30 Remix Challenge, and I am embracing the bright colors of Spring.
Mint is a hot color, and I have definitely jumped on board!

{ J.Crew button down / ModCloth Jeans / J.Crew ballet flats
Good thing this puppy is cute, because she sure is BAD!
Man oh man, going to the mall this weekend was a BAD decision given my plans to partake in a shopping hiatus for 30 days!
What is on your Spring shopping list? (yes, I want to torture myself more... or maybe just live vicariously through your shopping hauls!)

Get in here boyfriend... it's CHILLY!

Mrs. Sara Soda the other day took the words right out of my mouth when she expressed her distaste of coats. And I would just like to say a big DITTO to Sara Soda. We have not really had any REAL Winter here in Nashville (yet), and since Mother Nature can't make up her mind, I hate putting on a huge coat in the morning when it is chilly only to walk out of work in the evening to 60 degree temps and people giving me odd glances. So mostly this winter I have just been skipping the coat layer, and relying instead on cuddly sweaters. This sweater in particular is basically a square of fabric with arms... aka prettyAWESOME! The extra fabric on this sweater also came in handy yesterday for covering my eyes during the stressful parts of "The Grey"... my face was pretty much covered the ENTIRE time!
Stay Warm

chambray re-mix

Sweater, Chambray Button Down, White Jeans, Flats - all J.Crew
Necklace - local boutique
Watch - Michael Kors (similar)
Am I blowing your mind? White jeans after Labor Day, and it's my favorite chambray shirt again! While I am testing the fashion conventions of a past decade (denim-on-denim), I figured I would try one more and rock white in the winter. So old ladies wouldn't give me the stink eye on the street, I paired my rebellious white jeans with classic pieces. And, I think it works!
Have you tried "winter" white?
so free in my winter white jeans!

armadillo love

It was unseasonably warm these past couple of days, which meant I got to wear a skirt without tights (so free!) and you get to see my paleness! This is my favorite J.Crew summer sale skirt, and the belt that I got on Tennessee Tax Free weekend (cha-ching!). Not everyone is into armadillos, understandably, but how can you resist kissing armadillos from Kate Spade?! I don't think any reason you give will appease me... just warning you in advance.
guess what... it has POCKETS!
Shirt/Skirt/Shoes: J.Crew
Belt: Kate Spade

love the possibilities

I am big into expressing yourself through words (AKA, I talk a lot), but this mural in Nashville reminds me that it is actually the deeds/actions you do that define who you are. I am going to make it a resolution, if you will, for 2012 that I will do a better job of loving the people around me, the planet I live on, and the possibilities that come into my life (be it the things I actively strive for, or the "unanswered prayers" that fall my way)

I drive by this mural weekly, and finally convinced Ty to stop with me. It was totally worth my "photographer" (Tyler) getting harassed by homeless people. (they weren't being mean, just joking, and giving him a hard time!)
Sweater - Banana Republic
Corduroys - Gap
Ballet Flats - J.Crew
What are some of your resolutions? Can you believe it is December!? I cannot understand how we zipped through 2011 so quickly and already into 2012 (maybe this is why I need to live in the "Here&Now" more!)

sunday funday

Sweater- Forever21; Skinny Jeans- Genetic Denim; Tank/Flats- J.Crew; Belt- Patricia Field; Cluch- Hobo
After seeing the 1st Sex & The City Movie, I was obsessed with the studded belt that Carrie wore throughout.. and HAD to HAVE it. After waiting for it to get off of backorder, I really struggled to figure out ways to wear it. Recently I realized that it pretty much goes with everything... over coats, with fancy dresses, and everyday ensembles for running errands. Sunday, I added my "Carrie" belt to my outfit for running around town, and instantly felt more fab (thanks Carrie!)
