just a few of my favorites

{ What I Wore: J.Crew cashmere sweater // Blank Denim mint jeans (love these) // Old Navy ballet flats // Kate Spade earrings & bracelet }
 On our anniversary we stayed in and snuggled up to some wine & board games... my favorite kind of date night on a chilly evening!
(Oh, and I talked my man friend into taking some quick pictures of me too... win!)

I put on some of my old and new favorites: birthday present cashmere sweater, favored mint jeans that I refuse to put away for Fall, birthday present jewelry from my bestie, and a pair of funky ballet flats that have recently made their way to my closet.
 Putting on my favorite pieces and hanging out with my cutie instantly brings a smile to my face.
Do you have a "feel good" item? Or entire outfit??
Hope you have a great weekend
Thank you for your wishes of good health - I am starting to feel better, and although I know sleep is the best medicine, looks like I won't be getting much this weekend between building a Habitat for Humanity house and a horseback riding date with the boy.

wardrobe staples: chambray shirt

Ladies, this is week 2 of my conversation about wardrobe basics - deciding what are your closet staples, where to buy them, how to rock them, and more.
{ see week 1 on the trench here, and my 50 wardrobe staples here }

By now, you know that my LOVE for chambray shirts runs deep { proof here, here, here }
When in doubt, I pick my chambray shirt. It always goes in my suitcase in case I am in a bind for an extra outfit while traveling, and I think it is a truly versatile piece that every woman should own.

Here are some of the many ways I have worn my beloved chambray shirt:
chambray shirt + pencil skirt + leopard heels + statement necklace = girls' night out
chambray shirt + colored denim + booties = weekend shopping
open chambray shirt + maxi dress + panama hat = easy, breeze vacation get up

I wasn't sure you were convinced, so I asked some of my favorite blogging ladies Jules, Jessica, BlairSydney... and they agreed! Turns out, the rumor is true: chambray shirts can be worn buttoned, layered, open, dressed up, tucked, tied, and paired with just about any of your other closet favorites!

How do you rock chambray?

Thank you for all your lovely messages yesterday on our anniversary! Lots of love to share!

These pictures are actually from a couple of months ago, before I fell in LOVE with my new Old Navy vest. I actually wasn't going to ever post them because I didn't think they were that great... but then I drew a blank today, and they started looking pretty darn good.

slow down, you're moving too fast

Tyler,
Today we celebrate 3 years of dating - where has the time gone!? You are the man that I have built a life together with here in Nashville, traveling to new and familiar locations, finding our common interests (live music, craft beer, Doug the Pug, riding his motorcycle, watching Sunday night TV), cultivating close friendships, getting to know each other's family... and being taken in as family members ourselves.
Best friend - I couldn't imagine being on this crazy, wild ride with anyone else!

Texas wedding weekend

Where does the time go?
We have many gauges of time...
birthdays, anniversaries (celebrating my 3rd one with the boy on 10/10/12), milestones (1 year of blogging this month), awards, graduations, wrinkles, holidays, accomplishments (completing a 30X30 challenge)... but even with all of those markers to keep pace, it seems that while the days go slowly by, the years have been extremely short (to say the least!?)

Well, I now have another gauge of time, celebrating the marriage of my dear college friends Nick & Michelle... of whom I have had the pleasure of celebrating 7 years of birthdays, holidays, accomplishments, and random reasons to gather together
The beautiful bride... I promise we didn't plan to dress alike. She had told me what she was wearing before I packed, and then without knowing what I was bringing, switched to this dress last minute! We share the same brain waves I swear!
The bride and her merry maids!
After a little travel delays, my cutie met me down in the heart of Texas
