where have all the bootcuts gone?

{ What I Wore: J.Crew white button-down // Citizens of Humanity Jeans - Dita Petite Cut // Old Navy flats // 31 bits necklace (worn wrapped as a bracelet) // Purple Paparazzi necklace }

{ Get the Look }
This is my 3rd look featuring my beloved white button down (see my date night & casual weekend outfits from earlier this week for more white button down inspiration).

This might be my favorite way to wear this closet staple - letting it shine in all its gorgeous simplicity. Paired with dark denim & bold jewels, the white button down is easy polish on any outfit!
Besides my white button down, another favorite article of clothing (that gets not nearly enough love on the blog) is my pair of COH bootcut "Dita" Jeans. I got these jeans back in college when I worked at a local Arkansas boutique. At the time they were a SERIOUS splurge, even with my employee discount. But they were the first pair of off the rack designer denim that I could wear that day. No tailor middleman needed. These jeans are made for "petite" ladies under 5'4" (check) with a little bit of curves (I've got what I call "baby curves"& I like them)... & they have only gotten better with age (now at the perfectly broken in stage some 6 years (!!!) later)

Why do these boot cut babies not get much action on the blog? You tell me - when is the last time you saw a boot cut pair of jeans in the spotlight?! Ever since the "skinny" jean & "jeggings" came on the scene, tighter cut styles have been my GO TO pants, but my first love - the flattering boot cut Ditas - will always have a place in my heart.

What shape jeans are your favorite?
Have you been cheating on your skinnies with any other pair lately?
Who's with me to bring the boot cut back!?

  4. I fell out of love with bootcut jeans because I could just never find any that looked good on me–it was so frustrating! You've inspired me to try again, and I agree with everyone below–I thought you were much taller...I must know how you do it!

  5. I wouldn't even wear a pair of skinnies until a couple of years ago but now I won't wear anything else! = ) Love your J Crew Silk Blythe blouse. I have it in red and adore it. Got it during the big J Crew sale for $30, score!

  7. You look so pretty and carefree in your white shirt and bootcuts! Keep lovin' those jeans, girl. Even though bootcuts aren't always "in" style, I don't think they're ever really "out" of style.

  14. I have a pair or boot cut jeans from joe's jeans that never seemed to a lot of love on my blog until I saw a side picture of me wearing them are realized just how good my butt looks in them. haha. now they get much more love! The whole button down tucked into jeans look is definitely one of my favorite looks lately. I just don't have all that many button downs, surprisingly.

  15. Cute outfit!
    I just found my favorite pair of boot cut jeans in the back of my closet. They were hidden behind all of my skinny jeans, and I completely forgot about them!

  16. I love my one pair of bootcuts. After your instagram about jeans, I went through my jean collection and got rid of all of the old jeans that i haven't worn in 2+ years. Now I'm left with my favorite 1 pair of bootcuts, dark skinny, distressed skinny, and black skinny. I feel having only 4 pairs of jeans is probably fine but I do want a pair of dark bootcut jeans so I can wear those more often. They're just so flattering!

  19. I love my boot cuts. I'm only 5'4, but I can pull off a 32" inseam (and avoid a hem) if I go for bootcuts with heels. I like this illusion of height. I do like my skinnies too, but it's harder to pull off the height illusion, because your shoes are on full display (which is great for the shoe). I think both deserve a solid place in my wardrobe.

    I totally agree about bringing boot cuts back...I get so bored with skinny jeans! I'm looking for bootcuts and flares to freshen up my spring wardrobe.

  22. I was definitely a fan of bootcut jeans (I guess that was more in middle/high school) but now I have a hard time even wearing flared jeans! I actually have a pair of Citizens that I can't part with either! I got mine secondhand in high school. What is it about those pants?!

    perfectly priya.

  26. I have been a lover of boot cut jeans for years! Even after the 'skinny' craze started I just couldn't part with my faves...so I just added more to the collection. There's something about the perfect line that a boot cut creates! Glad to see you rocking them!

  27. I have a serious question - how do you wear a sheer, white blouse like this? What's your undergarment situation? I bought this same blouse, but returned it because it was too sheer :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ages ago I got a stetchy, nude, v-neck cami & it is my best undergarment buy to date. I wear it under all things low-cut, sheer and skintight for a seamless look. I honestly think mine is NY&Co (random!), but I bet that Victoria's Secret has some good ones in their clothing section. A Nude instead of white cami allows the sheerness to be corrected without being obvious. xx
