because I'm happy

Alternative titles: my mother was right, getting older sucks, my pants are too tight
Here & Now work out gear
So, I have talked about it on here before, but I absolutely hate working out. I dislike sweating, I think it is a waste of time, & gyms completely intimidate me! But just like my mother warned me, the second half of my 20s means that what I eat quickly shows up on my body (to be honest, my diet is not super healthy, but that is a story of beer, burgers, & chips for another day). Le metabolism isn't quite what it used to be.

And the 5-10 pounds of "happy weight" that I have put on since the wedding isn't going anywhere on its own!
Here & Now work out gear
I really want to enter the next chapter of my life (hello 30s) with healthier habits, so by darn I am GOING to become a morning person who loves to work out. While these lofty goals might take a while to manifest, I am starting with some baby steps.

1. I now have a job that requires me to be up around 5:30 (I hate the physical act of getting out of bed, but once I'm up I really do enjoy it)

2. My former excuse for not working out was "I have nothing to wear" - so my sweet sweet husband bought me these pants (not so subtle hint babe) & I have been collecting cute tanks to sport as well.

3. I found a un-gym to join. I am not getting paid to say this, but I love Koko Fit Club. It is unlike anything I've ever done before, & I'm actually becoming someone who looks forward to working out. The workouts are only 30 minutes long & are all on 1 machine. The routines are personalized for you, & are different every time! My favorite thing (because I am a stubborn perfectionist) is that you get points for the quality of your workout (kinda like Wii fit), these are not only for your personal satisfaction, but can be used to get sweet Koko gear too!  (Koko if you need a new spokesperson, hit me up!)

What motivations have you used to change your lifestyle?
Anyone else using the "I've got no cute workout clothes" excuse like me?

  1. For the days you are feeling like the queen of lazy, might I suggest Lauren Conrad's Treadmill Workout.... http://laurenconrad.com/blog/2013/12/tone-it-up-fat-burning-treadmill-indoor-workout-lauren-conrad-december-2013/

I know it looks really intimidating but I burn a little over 400 calories in 30 minutes plus get some breathtaking (literally) cardio in on those days where I'd rather down a large cheese pizza than step foot in a gym.

Plus you can modify it to fit you and still get a killer (again, I'm being literal here) workout.

    Good luck girl!

  2. I'm not sure where you're keeping these alleged extra 5-10 pounds but regardless...I'm impressed at your motivation. I'm the same way with "working out." I don't do it. I danced my whole life up until I started law school so I didn't have to "work out." I just did what I liked to do and it kept me in shape. Now I haven't had a regular routine in 3 years...whoops. I've been thinking of trying Pure Barre after the Bar is over. Barre...Bar...haha. :)

  3. Girl.. I don't know where you are storing those extra pounds because you look incredible to me! I go through phases of really hardcore working out and then for a month I am MIA from the gym. I am hoping to stop that this year.

  4. Cute workout gear always helps to motivate me! I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted and not lift a finger (or gain a pound). Then I hit my early 20's and found myself extremely overweight. Since then, I've come to love working out and when I don't I actually feel less happy! As for eating? I still love to eat out and have a hard time saying no to donuts! You look amazing and I'm excited to follow along with you on this :)

  7. Cute clothes always help me workout! But I really don't like gyms so I do workouts in my house or go running/biking outside! Or tennis, I love playing tennis for a good workout!

  8. YES! I'm so excited to start working from home again so I can take fitness into my own hands. On average I'm a very healthy eater, but my office jobs keeps me sitting allll day long, and it shows. I wish Koko were in my area!

  9. Ha, it is more like a layer of blubber over my body. Things jiggle like they didn't used to! I hear you about dance - I was the same way & it almost set me up for unrealistic expectations in adulthood. Turns out I'm not dancing for several hours each day anymore & I also no longer have the svelte body that came along with it. Love me some barre class though!! xx

  11. for me, it's about a routine -- specifically, a morning one. once i got my body in a rhythm of waking up and working out before work, it was easy to continue doing so! plus, at 5-6 am, there's like 0% chance that random things like happy hour etc. will get in the way of your plans.

  12. I have a really hard time getting up in the mornings to run. I go to yoga 4 times a week in the evenings but it is SO hard for me to get up early for the runs. I'm just not a morning person. But I do find cute workout clothes help motivate my workouts! Also fun, loud music. I have grand plans to enter into my 30s in great shape! I LOVE that tank too!

  14. Cute workout clothes are important I've found! I'm not an early riser either, but I try to do P90X3 every day when I first get up. Good luck meeting your goals!

  16. Like you, I have decided it is time to start working out. I live out in the country so there are no gyms for me to join just workout gear in the basement and the great outdoors.

  17. I am looking real hard to find those extra 5-10 pounds on you. :-) I had the rude awakening of "you better start eating healthy or working out" very recently. 30 minute cardio keeps me in shape and helps to let some steam out after a stressful day. Go girl! You will feel great after a good workout!

  20. At least you have the amazing campus to run around on. It might be enough to get you out and workout! I miss getting to walk across that beautiful campus all the time.
