Day 28: play with pattern

{ What I Wore: Think Tank leopard blouse // J.Crew skirt // ModCloth crystal necklace // Nine West pumps }
{ Get the Look }
leopard blouse {$29.99} + wool mini skirt {$39.58} + crystal statement necklace {$21.99} + black pumps {$20.98} + patterned tights {$6.80}
At the beginning of my 30X30, my sweet friend Erin asked me if I was crazy for picking out 5 skirts to wear as my bottoms during the month of November. Maybe you thought I was coo coo for cocoa puffs too... well you didn't know about my arsenal of tights did you now!?
Even in colder weather, I can't stand to part with my skirts, so I love pulling out tights to make my skirts cold weather appropriate { see here, here, here, here to name a few instances }
Are you a skirt + tights girl too?

Day 14: make it a double

I'm trying TWO new things in one outfit.... stop. the. presses.
{ What I Wore: J.Crew chambray shirt & olive wool skirt // Urban Outfitters plaid shirt // ShoeDazzle cap toe flats }
{ Get the look }
chambray shirt {$26.99} + plaid shirt {$19.99} + green mini skirt {$19.99} + black belt {$9.00} + cap toe flats {$29.99}
First, I am trying to continue enjoying my long hair by actually fixing it (before the my urges to chop it off take over) - this 'do is a half up with braids thing. Took about 4 minutes, and my hands didn't fall asleep - WINNING!

Second, I am wearing not one but TWO shirts. I have oogled at every way that Blair has rocked her double button downs { here & here to show off just a few }... but never thought I could pull it off. However, my need to get creative during my 30X30 Challenge finally gave me the courage... and I can't lie, I'm hooked!

Day 9: bonfire bash

{ What I Wore: J.Crew sweater & skirt // Steve Madden boots }
{ Get the look }
I can't make up my mind... I grow my hair out, then I don't want to bother to fix it.
I cut my hair short, and I dream of it being long again.

Ultimately, I prefer my hair long - it is like my security blanket
but, the boy likes my hair short { see my hair the shortest it has been on the blog here }

So before I do something drastic that I regret, I have decided to start actually fixing my hair... novel concept over here!

sweater girl

Sweater: Lefler's Boutique
Skirt: J.Crew
Heels: Jessica Simpson
Gold bracelet: House of Harlow (gift from my wonderful boyfriend!)

 The day before Christmas Eve ("Christmas Adam"), my sister and I met up with our mother in Little Rock. We toured the President Clinton Museum & Library, and ate a yummy lunch at the Capital Grill. President Clinton is the first president that I remember, and it was interesting learning more about him and his term in the White House. I enjoy doing new things in my own backyard!
After lunch, we headed back to my sister's house to exchange presents. From my mom I received a beautiful vintage beaded clutch from her family, and a handmade cake platter - beautiful items that I can't wait to use and display in my house
(a more extensive post of my new Christmas goodies to come later this week...)
Sarah, Deborah and me infront of the Capital Hotel's beautiful Christmas tree

winter jewels (color brigade)

Button Down/Skirt: J.Crew
Necklace: Lefler's Boutique
Booties: Charlotte Russe
Hold the presses - I am not only wearing red LIPSTICK, but also COLORED tights...{gasp}...! I am trying to embrace more color in my wardrobe and makeup routine, and figured I should just jump right in the deep end.

Have you checked in on the cute&little asian sensation that is Kileen? She has a segment on her blog called the Color Brigade, and I have decided to join the movement (see the new button on the left column of my site?)

Here's hoping that this is the first step forward to embracing more color. Last month it was mustard that I was crushing hard on (here, here, & here), and this month I am gravitating towards jewel tones (ruby, amethyst, peridot). Any go to colors or families of colors in your wardrobe rotation these days?
