channeling reese

My hair has always been a big part of me and my identity. I even won the high school superlative for "Best Hair" back in the good old days! I have never dyed my hair, but have worn it long, short (donated to Locks of Love), tried side bangs, full bangs and even permed it (what was I thinking!?)

Recently Reese Witherspoon has been my go-to hair muse. She inspired me again with the images below (all found on Pinterest), and at my recent salon appointment I asked for Reese's side swept bangs, and soft layers (middle picture, with the other two mixed it). If you are a Nashvillian looking for a salon home, I highly recommend Fruition Salon. I personally love my own stylist (Rachel L.), but they have a great interactive page so that you can pick out their stylist that is best suited to your needs and wishes.

I most recently cut my hair short to appease my boyfriend - he loves me just the way I am, but had only known me with long hair, and wanted to see the short hair side of me (P.S. he LOVES it short). I think I feel more feminine with long hair, and have always said that I wanted long hair on my wedding day... not that anything is in the works, but I am gradually growing my hair back out for now, with the end goal of having it as long as the inspiration picture below (grow strands, grow!) (also found on Pinterest)

But for Here&Now I am enjoying playing with my new medium length hair do. I actually bought a brush for the first time in over 10 years, and gave myself a "salon blow-out" last night just for fun! Such a "girl" thing to do!

  2. Your new hair is so dang cute! I LOVE the sideswept bangs, so chic! One day when I get brave, I'm going to ask my stylist for bangs. And we've all done the 90's perm... yikes! Glad that trend is over.

  3. I couldn't find this post more relevant! Just recently parted with my looong hair and am now, for the first time since I was 5 (!), am rocking with the medium length hair and LOVING IT! I also just splurged on one of those ceramic, volumizing boar-haired bristle brushes - so worth every penny (: x
