In
the spirit of “keeping it real”, I wanted to share something with you – I am
looking into selling/placing ads on my blog. I have up until this point
accepted button swaps, & had Passionfruit ad options available, but I haven’t
actively pursued bringing in advertisements to this little corner of the
internet. This was a conscious choice on my part because I felt as if I was
just getting to know you, as you were just meeting me, & I didn’t want some
big, flashy banner ads in the sidebar to interrupt our first date. But now that
we know each other a little better, I want to continue to grow, & bring you
new/exciting content, & that means there might be a new ad or two
popping up in various places.
We are on this road together! {via} |
I will
never dilute my content just to cater to an ad client, & I want your feedback
(the good, the bad, the ugly, just try to be constructive) as these changes
roll out. Please do not up & leave me without letting me know what the issues
are & giving me a chance to make this a happy place for everyone.
Blogging
is not my full time job (not even part time, or other wise either), but
actually just my hobby that I am crazy passionate about. It is my only hope
that these small changes will help Here&Now continue to be a place you
enjoy visiting (everyday, once a week, when you get a chance), hopefully
the only differences you will notice are more fun giveaways, exiting new product
features, clever campaign announcements, & the like.
Join me on this fun adventure! {via} |
How can you get involved?
- In the spirit of change, what would YOU like to see on Here&Now? Weekly series? More/less outfits? Splurge/Steal shopping posts? More of Doug the Pug’s mug (let’s be honest, who doesn’t!?)
- Do you post ads on your site? What have you found to be the best way?
- Let’s grow our blogs together! Purchase a “Top Dog” Passionfruit ad & you will get your own shout-out post/giveaway opportunity (this will rock, I swear!)
All of the above! Outfits, splurge/steal and, of course, Doug!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your posts! (especially if they include Doug) I've been accepting paid ads on the blog Since January 1st...and it's been a lot of work, but totally worth it. I connect with new bloggers and make a few dollars to fuel advertising my own blog. It's a win - win. The toughest part for me is not diluting my content. Doing the monthly giveaway generates a lot of traffic and new readers, but sometimes I just have too many good posts planned! Haha.

I think it's great you posted this Jess! Honestly, if I love the blog and the content I could care less how many ads are all over it! In fact, I expect it coming from blogs with great content (like yours) :) So no worries!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your posts... and who doesn't love Doug the Pug?! :)
We are looking into ads currently too, but its just been a discussion so I don't have any advice on what's the best way to go about it!
I need to do this on my blog too. I've been putting it off and keep wanting to put it off since it seems like a hassle. Let me know how it turns out for you.

Go for it girl! I love all your posts & can't wait to see what kind of sponsors you attract! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOh and yes, yes, YES to more Doug the Pug!! #dougfan
PS - I'm sorry I've been so MIA...I actually moved blogs - http://jenplusjohn.blogspot.com/ - come check me out! :-)
Exciting times! I say go for it! As long as a blog doesn't become one big sponsored post, ads don't worry me. Keep up the outfit posts - love them :)

i think advertising makes sense! blogging takes work and time, so i'll probably take ads/sponsors once i get more followers too. i signed up for one of the free small spots and hope to continue to be a sponsor in the future too! oh and more pug pictures always!! :)

I have gone back and forth about wanting paid sponsorship, as well. Thus far, I just have people guest post and/or do giveaways. Maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see all of the things you mentioned, especially more Doug! :)
ReplyDeleteI have some basic google adsense ads, but nothing else.
