group effort

{ What I Wore: J.Crew dress via eBay // Gap jean jacket // Lilac Bijoux necklace // ShoeDazzle wedges // studded bag c/o Oasap }
This dress is sold out, but J.Crew currently has some totally gorgeous dresses on sale + an extra 30% off! 1 // 2 // 3

It seriously take a village to help me get dressed. Jessica convinced me to track this dress down when I posted about it on Instagram.
Then Shanna pointed me in the direction of this fabulous necklace that I dreamed of wearing as a collar.
And finally my seamstress (hi mom) tailed my dress so that it was perfectly made to my measure!
Ok, I tried it. I wanted to be a "fashion blogger" & do things that bloggers do. But not putting my arms in my sleeve holes still felt completely awkward. I'll try anything once & this was my attempt... see ya later cape jacket.
I have to admit, I was kind of nervous about my first big blogging meet-up at the Southern Blog Society Brunch down in Atlanta this past Sunday & wearing an outfit that I loved made my worries melt a tiny bit.

But once I walked into the room & met all the beautiful & talented women, people with passions like mine, who are going out & getting it done, there were no nerves, just smiles, hugs, shared stories, swapped business cards & cheers over mimosas!
Turns out getting dressed & blogging is a lot more fun when it involves a community.
This past weekend, my "blog friends" became real friends, & that is the truth.
If you are looking for a few new blogging buddies, I promise that these ladies will light up your blog roll:
Jessica, My Style Vita // Cathy, Poor Little It Girl // Shelby, Glitter & Gingham // Ashlyn, Let it be Beautiful // Julie Leah // Danielle, Lou What Wear // Serena, The Serena Saga // Cath, Asian Cajuns // Katie, Pearls & Twirls // Mandy, Waiting on Martha // Kaitlin, Secretive Style //  Trina, Baby Shopaholic // Teodora, The Fashion Lush
Have you ever had a blogger meet-up?
I might just be obsessed now, what a wonderful community!

P.S. Linking up with Walking in Memphis in High heels & Style Elixir today

I but stuff off eBay in sizes too big and get then tailored all the time. Love this dress on you and hope you'll linkup today. ; ) Next Tuesday is floral. I also love wearing my necklace as more of a collar too.

  22. The color of the dress is amazing, and I absolutely LOVE the scallops! I was originally on the fence about those flower necklaces, but I really do love it paired with a monochromatic dress. And OK, where is that belt from? I love it!

  23. Thank you lady! I was right there with you on the floral necklaces, but I am actually thrilled to have gotten it, & have in fact worn it an embarrassingly high number of times since I got it last week! This belt is my Kate Spade armadillo belt, turned around so the 'dillos are in the back. I liked have a little back decoration, but would love to have a solid gold one in the future too!

  24. I tried this dress on in a J.Crew store & couldn't pay full price for it, so I walked away. Then the next day I was convinced that I needed it, went back to the store to find it on sale, but they didn't have my size. So I left again. I finally stalked it on eBay, ordered what I could find, a size too big, & had my mom tweak it for me. After all that, I think it is safe to say, this is my favorite dress!

  32. Lauren,
I have actually had this jacket since Jr. High, so I think it is close to being truly vintage. I can't remember if the color was originally darker & faded over time or if this was just the cool wash in 2002... But I love the cut and fit of Gap jean jackets, so I definitely recommend getting a new one or searching for a vintage one on eBay/in a thrift store. xx
