{What I Wore: J.Crew vest (crewcuts), skirt, baseball tee // Nine West sandals }
{Get the Look}
utility vest {save(ish) // splurge } + floral skirt + baseball tee + nude sandals

Well, after documenting 150+ of my outfits, the boyfriend is throwing in the towel on being my personal photographer. I really can't complain - I am grateful he has stuck with my backseat photography this far...
And now I am just a girl with a tripod and a remote.  I pretty much have no clue what I am doing... but this tutorial from IFB and these tips from Jen over on the Effortless Chic blog have helped so far.

Maybe I should work up the courage to venture outside... there are only so many clean corners of my apartment to stand in front of!

Got any tips or tricks of your own?
Send 'em my way!
xx

  3. Oh not at all... I got a size 14. It is a little boxy, but I think that is just one of the many differences between children/tween clothing and more tailored styles made for adults/women.

  8. that is really funny! I use a tripod and timer for all of my pictures because I don't even want to ask my husband to take them - I'm sure he would but i'd be too embarrassed about how many I'd want him to take! : )  and I just stand in the same place on my deck and hope my neighbors don't see. : )

  10. I admire when people take their own photos! I know that one of these days my husband may say, that's it, I'm done (especially after I'm "directing" him too much in our photo sessions). They look great so far, and so does this cute outfit. I'm always looking for cargo vest inspiration!

  11. Aww, that's nice that your bf stuck it out so long though :)  The tripod thing does get easier - I still use the tripod/remote when my hubby isn't around or I can't bribe him into doing the pics for me!   I love this floral + miliatry combo, it's definitely a classic pairing and you look great!

  12. Haha! I am totally in the same boat as you!  It's me, my tripod, remote & indoor photos.  I have absolutely no guts when it comes to "modeling" outside.  I'm definitely going to check up on those tips you suggested.

    I love how casual this outfit is but still manages to pull off a quite feminine appeal.  And those sandals look adorable & comfortable at the same time!

  13. He threw in the towel, eh?  Sorry to hear that!  My husband is just getting started... and I think he secretly likes to take photos... not of me in clothes, but of other things, like scenery.  Slowly I'll teach him the ways :)  However, I sometimes have to use a tripod and remote... and I HATE it.  When you get all those tips and tricks, you should post about 'em!

  14. Ohhh I love this baseball T and Floral. :) This makes me happy!  AW. AND shame on him for throwing in the towel. I boo that, but you are doing a great job by yourself.

  16.  love it, jessica! such a cute outfit. and i feel your pain - my husband only agrees to be my photographer every once in a while. most of the time it's just lil ol me! LOL

  17. LOL - I'm jealous you got that many outfits out of him!  Mine is willing, but we both end up super frustrated so I've stuck with the tripod and remote, too.  As far as lighting is concerned, I have the best luck early in the morning or right before sunset ... I also like to shoot in the aperture priority setting, as it gives me the most flexibility in the depth of field, exposure, etc. Best of luck on this new venture, and I'll definitely be checking out those tutorials!

  18. Aw, sad face for no more photographer.   I only recently convinced my hubby to take my pics cuz I got sick of running back & forth with my little digital camera self-timer.  So annoying!

    And thanks for the links to those tips.  I need serious help with my posing.  I feel better after reading that even the models say if you don't feel silly you're probably not doing it right.

  19. My fiance tried to quit on me yesterday! He was like, you need to hurry up and make your blog profitable so you can hire a real photographer. I've done a little bit of tripod/timer/remote stuff, and I love that ifb tutorial, it helped me a LOT. I've found that when my remote is acting up, I walk to my spot, manually focus on my tripod from there (on a slightly higher f stop to avoid too shallow a depth of field for me to hit) and then put it back on the tripod.

    My final tip is, don't forget that you're holding a remote like I do. If I do my own pics, there is ALWAYS at least one shot where the remote is in it. I'm so good at photography.

  20. Ooh I like those shoes Jessica!  The thick straps are neat.

    When I can't find anyone to photograph me I do end up being a tripod and remote gal too... I try to stick to my backyard because I haven't gotten over the feeling of feeling silly if someone see's me photographing myself!  Haha!!

  21. First of all, I love the vest and baseball tee and even paired together! I'm sad to hear the boy has thrown in the towel :(   I don't know if I could ever do the tripod/remote thing, so good for you.

  22. I love the vest with the baseball tee it reminds me of a jacket Zara had not that long ago.  And I love it all even more paired  with that pretty floral skirt.  Just gorgeous!

  24. How ruuude! Haha, j/k. Of course I will tell you - I got a size 14, but it is a little boxy on my and I could have def gotten the 12. I am typically a 0/2P in J.Crew (but I don't think they vanity size kids clothes like they do with the women's selection)
