I am so excited to be joining Ty to his home state of Oregon for one of his long time friend's wedding in August. The affair is an evening ceremony in the groom's backyard... and I have no clue what to wear.
6 weddings in one year mean that shelling out for an expensive wedding guest outfit just isn't an option! After consulting my favorite site for fabulous dress on my budget, Rent the Runway, I have narrowed down the choices to 3: girlie chic, modern hip, and classic sleek. Which one is your favorite?
{ Girlie Chic: Dress // Earrings // Ring // Clutch // Wedges } |
A standout colored lace dress calls for understated neutral accessories
Wedges are a must for a backyard wedding
(read: I don't want to be that girl getting my stilettos stuck in the grass after cocktail hour),
but I don't know if a girlie lace dress, modern printed maxi or classically sleek frock is the best choice...
{ Modern Hip: Dress // Clutch // Cuff // Earrings // Wedges } |
I love the ombre print of this dress, and pairing it with gold just seems like a natural choice!
{ Classic Sleek: Dress // Earrings // Necklace // Clutch // Shoes } |
Today I am linking up with Long Distance Loving Friday's Fancies Favorite Summer Treat, as shopping for wedding wear is quickly becoming my summer treat!

Which outfit would you pick? Have you been to a backyard wedding before (help me!)?
Do you have a go-to summer wedding look?

i think you should rule OUT the 3rd dress - it's too flirty and evening for a backyard wedding. because you're in oregon, which is pretty casual already, i'd go with #2. i adore the teal lace dress, but it's a pretty preppy and the maxi just seems more appropriate (and equally fabulous!)
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute, but I'd probably go with option #1. It's hard to judge how casual/fancy the event will be though since it's in a backyard. I went to a backyard evening wedding when I was in 9th grade I think and it was a VERY fancy affair...these people had a poolhouse than was probably the size of my parents' home, ha.
ReplyDeleteI have wedding #5 coming up in September and I think I may need to look into RTR!

I like the first one. That one screams summer wedding to me. I also think the maxi would be stunning on you & is a little more unexpected, yet totally appropriate, for a backyard wedding too. I still think I'd pick the first one. It looks so fun & comfy :o) Be sure to let us know what you decide!
ReplyDeleteOh man, tough to choose - they are all beautiful! I love the lace one, that's definitely a great wedding choice, but I might go with the maxi - seems like the perfect mix of dressy and casual for a backyard wedding!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the first and last dress, so pretty :)

#2 is my favorite for a backyard wedding! That maxi dress is just gorgeous and I think you can look both classy and casual at the same time with that outfit. Can't wait to see what you pick!

LOVE THE SECOND DRESS!!! :)

i TOTALLY vote second dress!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for the strapless maxi. Perfect for a backyard wedding, for sure!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 would be my choice for a backyard wedding. It's beautiful, & if it gets a bit chilly towards the evening, you'll be fine! And maxis are so comfy no matter what. Can't go wrong with them... : )

I think my favorite is the second one. So incredibly UNIQUE! I just love the fold upwards on the bust, and I can see it being totally figure-flattering.
ReplyDeleteLooks a bit like a more streamlined Monet painting. So naturally romantic, with just the right touch of whimsy.
I know it's tough - because everyone says something different here- but just go with what you feel you'll be happiest in!

I love option 1! That dress is gorgeous, and I think it's the perfect look for an outdoor summer evening wedding. I have definitely been that girl at an outdoor wedding - I really need to remember to pull out the wedges next time. I hope you have a fantastic weekend :)
ReplyDeleteLove the second look! Honestly, I think you shouldn't go too fancy for a backyard wedding and lace just screams fancy... Also, I think black is too formal so the best looks would be #2....
ReplyDeleteHave fun picking...lol

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love that first dress!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is girly chic! They're all lovely though! This has been a crazy wedding season for me too. After today, I have just one left!

Tough decision! I love them all but I think 1 and 2 are my faves. Great options, though - you really can't go wrong with any of them. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outfit is the first set but for a backyard wedding, the 2nd outfit seems the most sensible. That too is a gorgeous set!

That lace dress is stunning-it would look great on you! I also really adore the second though.
ReplyDeletei especially like the modern-hip dress!
