for those that wait

{What I Wore: Zara tweed jacket // Genetic Denim skinny jeans // Nine West black pumps (similar, $40) // Everlane tee // boutique necklace (similar, $25) // Target sunnies}
Here it is: my souvenir from some recent travels around Nice, France. I enjoy picking up special items for my wardrobe to remember trips by... and this might be my favorite clothing souvenir to date. A tweed jacket is something that has been on my wish list for like EVER... and I have talked about my desire to get a classic tweed jacket in no less than 5 posts {herehere, here, here, and here}... see, not lying!

My criteria for THE tweed jacket of my dreams were: a classic cut, black & white colors, flattering tailoring, and a price that fits my grad student budget. So when I slipped this jacket on while experiencing shopping at Zara for the first time, I had a "this-is-the-ONE-moment". At $100, it wasn't exactly cheap, but I know that this jackets is a quality piece that is going to be worn and loved by me for years to come.... worth it!

So in the end, I am happy that I didn't settle for a tweed jacket that didn't tick all of my boxes just to have it earlier... and I am also BEYOND overjoyed that this baby has found its way into my life!

For the first wear on the blog, I wanted to style the jacket just as I saw it in my dreams for years: dressing up my go-to outfit (soft tee + skinny jeans) to take it from day to night.
I also can't wait to pair this baby with sheath dresses for work events, frayed shorts in the summer, and my liquid leggings this Fall
What piece are you searching for?
Any recently "finding the holy grail" of fashion moments for you?
xx
Jessica

P.S. If you are interested in purchasing this jacket for yourself... just a little word on the sizing/fit. In my favorite brand, J.Crew, I typically wear a size XS/0 (sometimes a S/2 if it is in petites), but purchased this jacket in a Medium so that it would fit like a typical blazer instead of a cropped jacket... I just personally saw it as more of a timeless piece in this fit

  8. That jacket is an awesome find and buy--it will be worth the investment for sure! I love how it adds so much sophistication to jeans and a t-shirt! My best "holy grail" moment this year has been finding a pair of cute, comfortable ankle boots (which have been on my wishlist for a while) at Target for a great price!

  21. Don't you love visiting new places so you can shop at stores you never get to?! This jacket is gorgeous! I'm proud of you for waiting for the perfect one (I am way too impatient and can never do that!) no doubt this piece will be very versatile, I love the outfits you already described and can't wait to see them!! I LOVE the way you styled it this time, just classic. These photos are adorable! Except look out, because that spot is totally reserved for Turner & Nichols!

    I think I'm looking for another blazer that fits like a dream, I have one but it's a little longer than I would like. I guess I'll just keep looking! Send your good luck this way!

  22. GREAT jacket Jess! It looks amazing on you.
    I'm looking to pick up a few classic pieces in San Fran... a little black dress (I'm sick of the old one) and a faux fur vest (still beating myself up for not snagging the $15 one I tried on at H&M last winter).

  28. Ooooh, this jacket!  I love it, the tweed looks very modern with the black pipping around the collar and by the pockets, it's very striking.  I really like your easy, effortless styling of the jacket, the skinnies with the black pumps and the one statement necklace is perfect! :)
