As a summer camp counselor (psst... I was the cool one!), we had a nightly tradition called "POWs & WOWs", where the campers & I shared what was awesome & not so great about the day before...
I feel like this weekend was a perfect example of POWs & WOWs:
POWs: in a word, RAIN
- Rain, Rain, more rain!
- That no good, very bad rainstorm postponed our engagement pictures for another week
- Oh & the day turned out to be the most beautiful we have had in a week, even though the meteorologist was calling for 60%+ chance of thunderstorms... blast!
- Let's just not even talk about my pasty white legs in these pictures... come on SUNSHINE!
WOWs: new friends, new dresses, new drinks
My blogger buddy turned real life friend Jessica, of Dahlia Lynn Lane Blog, is giving up shopping for 6 months (!!!!)
Not only am I excited to follow along with her journey as she re-thinks what shopping means to her, but I was over-joyed to attend her clean-out-the-closet sale this past weekend (her fabulous fashion sensibility paired with new friends & drinks.... I'm so there!)

When I spotted this J.Crew dress (with pockets!!!) I knew it was meant to be mine!
Paired with the heels that i won from a APOT giveaway last Fall & haven't gotten to sport yet & my favorite BaubleBar necklace - this was outfit made for drinking margaritas in!
Oh, another WOW, Bud Light Lime-a-ritas (yum!)

So pretty! I love that last photo of you. My POW was definitely the frat party near our house that kept me up most of the night until we had to make a noise complaint (does that make me old?!) and my WOW was thrifting an awesome vintage dress!

I tried giving up shopping around christmastime and it was hard! It will be cool to follow along and see how it goes for the 6 months! I love the coral and I am obsessed with those shoes!

ReplyDeleteLove the blue/green in the shoes to compliment the coral in the dress. What lovely embroidery and the white balls (not sure the fashion term ;) ) at the hemline are so fun. Not much POW this weekend. Nice weather so we spent all day outside on Sat (WOW!).

Ooh I'm so interested to see you wearing Heat Wave by Nars - I really want to try it but it's few and far between here the stores which stock it Nars and I'm a little apprehensive to order online without trying it... what's it like?! drying, colourfast? any advice appreciated!

Love love love this outfit! The dress is so pretty, and I would have never thought to pair it with green but I LOVE the combination.
ReplyDeleteI love the Lime-a-ritas, but we made the mistake of buying the strawberry ones last time (the straw-ber-ita or something?) and they're gross and we have a whole case of them in the fridge. Stick with the lime!
This is my first Nars lipstick, so I don't know if they are all the same, but I LOVE this one. I am lipstick apprehensive in the first place because I always stress out that I either have it all over my face or it has flaked off & no one is telling me (!!!). But this formula stays put & doesn't flake. It is a matte lipstick which I think helps with its staying power. The color seems to be generally flattering as I have seen it on women of many varied skin tones & it complemented them all!

I love that you added another necklace with your Baublebar one! I have the Baublebar one in pink, and I never thought to do that. I also love a dress with pockets! My POW was that it DID rain at the KY Derby, and I looked like a drowned rat. My WOW was spending the Derby with all my best girlfriends!
