unsexy

{ What I Wore: Urban Outfitters blazer // J.Crew Blythe blouse // skirt c/o Chicnova // Steve Madden pumps // BaubleBar opal earrings // Target x Marc Jacobs clutch (similar) }
I wouldn't mind being known as the girl who rocks blazers & boyfriend jeans on Date Night. My mother always taught me that a lady is modest & should leave something to the imagination.

When Chicnova invited me pick one of their pieces, I looked right at this body-con floral skirt & told it, "I can un-sexy you"... what every skirt wants to hear.
Ok, so maybe this skirt was a bit more sexy than I could overcome. But I really liked how the more modest, neutral button down & blazer tempered the va-va-voom of hot pink cut out florals.

In another life, a crop top + this skirt would go straight to club dancing... I might file that possibility away for a future bachelorette party ;)
Do you "un-sexy" revealing pieces of clothing?
Or are you of the confident "If you've got it flaunt it" camp?
Any others out there who rock boyfriend jeans + blazers on Date Night?

** yes, I know - I'm goofy & wear my engagement ring on the wrong finger sometimes. Apparently I have beyond tiny fingers & am trying to figure out if I should re-size it again or just hold out until summer when my fingers are supposed to get bigger... we shall see.

P.S. Did you see the gorgeous Gemmy Junky necklace we are giving away?!

  7. I think you wore the skirt perfectly! Still incredibly sexy because HELLO look at those LEGSSSSSSSSSSSSS! But I think it is always good to balance out the sexiness, you know, be a bit more conservative on top :) So, you nailed it and I love it!

  10. I saw your title and I saw this skirt and I thought, this skirt is SO sexy and cute! But I like how you made it more every day appropriate with the top. You look so gorgeous my friend!

    I have crazy tiny fingers too. Here's a tip: when you get your wedding ring, get it a half size smaller than your engagement ring and when you wear them together, your engagement ring will automatically be tighter on your finger. At least that's my jeweler told me and it works! :)

  11. The skirt is great and I really like this styling. It's perfectly understated sexy. I especially love your explanation too because I often see bloggers posting date night outfits & I'm thinking "THAT'S what you're wearing out on the town with your man?" (I did not think that about this outfit before I saw it though hehe) I guess for date nights I'm of the "If you've got it flaunt it" camp because that's what my hubby likes to see. Besides, my girls are large & in charge so I feel like I'm constantly covering them up & when a chance like date night comes around, the girls usually come out to play. Haha...too much? ;-)

    I'd wait until you get your wedding ring to resize your engagement. I got my two sautered together (which I would HIGHLY recommend) but either way you can just get everything done at once so you're not without your ring multiple times.

  15. Yeah you definitely didn't unsexy it... that may have more to do with your legs than that skirt! Damn girl! But yeah, I look at all my minis like... how can I bro you out a little? haha. I love this look and I fully support you crop topping it for the bach party!

  17. I live with my boyfriend and his parents so I can definitely understand wanting to "un-sexy" an outfit! When my bf and I are out on our own, I love flaunting it. However, if we're all going out somewhere I tend to dress more modestly. For example, I tied a grey t-shirt over a low-cut v-neck dress to make it more appropriate for brunch and work later that afternoon.

  18. Haha I thought you must have been kidding when I saw your post title and the picture under it! You look gorgeous here! But I totally get what you mean and I'm the same too - I'm not comfortable with an entirely 'sexy' outfit, gotta do something to tone it down a bit haha :)
