local shopping favorites & a giveaway

As I mentioned in my not really resolutions "resolutions" post… I have several "mind-sets" that I want to change in 2014. One of them being, "I don't have time to shop in stores". I'm an online shopping addict & I wish I wasn't. Shopping online is easy, too easy. For example, Amazon Prime has my credit card memorized & when things show up on my door 2 days later I like to pretend that they were free… it wasn't like I had to do much more than click 3 times & they magically appear! yea, that's not right (Mean Girls reference)

There are so many AH-mazing stores here in Nashville. Quirky shops, fabulous boutiques, places that Country Music stars shop at for goodness sake! And I've been to shamefully few of them - in FOUR years!

And there is something to "in person" shopping. Getting to touch the clothes, try them on. Playing dress up if you aren't in the mood for a purchase. Getting to know the shop owners (I was a shop girl at an adorable boutique while in college & loved seeing our regular customers). And least in Nashville, learning about local designers, artists & local treasures.

The down side to "in person" shopping… driving all over town, parking, not knowing what will be in stock on the day you decide to stop by, & sometimes the pressure to buy.
So how do I shop my local favorites? Stores like Elaine Turner, Judith Bright, Woo, Digs, H. Audrey, Haven, Emmaline, & Moda? I first sign on to my House Account app to see what those stores have posted - new arrivals, sales, local designer pieces. From the app I can like pieces that I want to check out in store, find out about current deals & even chat with store employees to ask about size availability or to have them hold an item!

And using the new search & explore feature (accessed by the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner of the feed) I can search for specific designers & categories - the ease of online shopping married to the joys of in person shopping.
This leather tank from Moda is everything AND a bag of chips.
House Account isn't just for us lucky Nashville gals, it is currently serving Chattanooga, Knoxville, Birmingham, Lexington, Atlanta, Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston, Raleigh, New Orleans, Richmond, Washington D.C., Dallas, Houston, NYC, L.A., & Denver - with new cities & shops being added!
Total honeymoon dress… riiiiight!? Regardless, pretty sure I need it.
Right now, Elaine Turner is featuring their 50% off sale through the app. I spotted the great deals on my phone & just had to see the amazing purses, shoes, & accessories (taking Zipporah with me of course!) I found a couple of pieces that I am literally drooling over - see this leopard purse & the pink flats below. (droooool)
that's my SALE face!
I'll take the shoes, the couch AND the rug. please&thankyou.
So now that I've taken you along during my dreamy shopping day, I have some BIG news. House Account is giving one of YOU a $500 SHOPPING SPREE! (seriously no fair that I can't enter!). All you have to do is click on the House Account button below & download the app. Once downloaded, register in the app so we know who you are (in a hey, how you doing way). That's it. Done. Entered. Then enjoy checking out your local shops & deciding where you will be dropping some of that cash first!

  1. I know what you mean about shopping online! Sadly it's also a way for my hubby to not know I shop as much as I do since I have the packages delivered to my office. I know I'm a bad girl! I am trying so very hard not to shop until next month when I go to DC, that will be my big "shop in a store" adventure!

  2. I have a biiiig problem with online shopping too, it's to the point where I go to a store and get overwhelmed because I can't comparison shop and narrow down my options with filters. I could use an online shopping intervention!!

  3. I shop online mainly because it saves time and I live where the malls are crowded 24/7, so it's just easier. Love that pink dress you tried on!

  12. Oh that app will be perfect for traveling out of town and wanting to find the fun local shops!
I have to say, I'm amazed at how much wear you are getting out of those heels! I would never think a color like that would be easy to style, but man, you make it look like it goes with everything. And did you really shop in them? If so, GIRL. You are amazing.
Also, I am in LOVE with that brown dress (4th picture down). Don't take this the wrong way but it reminds me of a very chic potato sack! haha! :)

  15. Totally agreed - packed malls give me the ICK! But I have had such a problem with fit lately, shopping in person has made me feel better.

  18. I know what you mean about the pressure - but as a former boutique employee, I have to remind myself that they are just interested in seeing the cute clothes & while they of course want you to go home with something, most of them don't work on commission, so it really doesn't matter to them.

  20. I agree, I initially thought that these pumps would be a novelty item, but they have quickly become my go to. I like to shop in shoes that I love, that will pair nicely with most things I try on, so yes, I shopped in these!

    Idaho potato chic? Love it!
