DailyBuzz Style 9X9: Holiday Makeover

I am so excited to be participating in the DailyBuzz Style 9x9: November challenge, "A Month of Makeovers". I decided to not only challenge myself personally, but learn something new that I thought you would like knowing about too - easy holiday make up.
I am not a make up guru by any means, but I AM a girl that wishes she could put eyeshadows in the right place, and apply foundation without missing a chunk of skin to be found at the end of the work day... so I visited my girl Dianna at Woo skincare & cosmetics here in Nashville, set up my tripod, and got down to business. Even if she wasn't my girl before, she is now that she has hooked me up with some easy holiday makeup magic!
So, how DO you get easy holiday makeup?
Start with a fresh-faced base - {PREP} hydrate skin, {PRIME} cover up red spots, lighten under eye circles, and use a foundation coverage that you feel comfortable with (I like only a bit of coverage, so the Bobbi Brown BB cream is juuuust right for me). Then add some {COLOR} with bronzer, mascara, define your brows, and a sweep on brightening eye shadow.
This is your "day face" that you can run around in all day, and then, right before the party you only have to complete three easy steps to get {GLAM}...

1. Create a smokey eye
First pull out the Bobbi Brown pearl eye shadow trio (easy to use - the medium shade covers the lid, the dark color lines the crease and along the lash line, and the light shadow highlights the brow bone). Then use a long wear gel liner on the top and bottom lash line (short dashes with a liner brush makes the perfectly subtle cat eye)
2. Define the lashes
Pick a mascara made of beeswax so you can layer on multiple coats without globbing or flaking
3. Pucker up
Make your pout kissable with a matte lip color & sparkle lip gloss (easy to keep in your clutch and freshen up all night long)

{Prep} hydrating face tonic // hydrating eye cream  {Prime} BB cream // foundation brush // corrector // creamy concealer kit // Touch up stick {Color} to fill brows, use a matching eye shadow (my best color is saddle) and add soft strokes with an eye brow brush // extreme party mascara (layerable, without flaking, or globbing) // lip gloss (perfect dose of color for day) // to add color, swipe bronzer on the areas of your face that would be naturally "sun kissed" (my best color is Antigua) // Apply the shimmer brick to highlight cheekbones // Bronzer and shimmer brick are best applied with the face blender brush // A brightening eye shadow/eye shadow brush finsishes off the look for "day" {Glam} pearl powder eye shadow trio  // creamy matte lip stick (true pink) // long wear gel eyeliner // ultra fine eyeliner brush

And then time to pick out your outfit - how about layering some luxe textures & prints?
Right now pairing up (faux) fur, leather, plaid, & glitter is making me sooo happy!
{ What I Wore: Urban Outfitters plaid button down // Old Navy fur vest (similar) // BaubleBar bauble necklace // Storets vegan leather skirt (similar, so cute!) // J.Crew glitter clutch (similar, for under $20!) // Gianni Bini booties (similar) }
What is your holiday make up routine? Let's talk amoungst us gals!

  1. I love your styling of your furry vest, the plaid gives it such a fun rugged vibe and the leather skirt adds a little edge!  (And the olive green blazer underneath is gorgeous, what a perfect style match for the plaid and the furry vest.)

  7. Your makeup came out gorgeous! I'm usually pretty minimal when it comes to makeup, so for the holidays I'll go brighter and bolder–lots of eye makeup, too!

  20. Love that outfit! And this looks like so much fun - it's always great to pick up some new makeup and tricks! I don't like heavy foundations either, so I just use the Garnier BB cream mixed in with my usual SPF moisturiser for my face (+ concealer etc) :)
